The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited has commenced the supply of crude oil for the test-running of the Port Harcourt Refining Company Limited, officials said on Sunday. Oil marketers confirmed the development and stated that the plant would supply refined Premium Motor Spirit, popularly called petrol, Automotive Gas Oil, otherwise known as diesel, as well as other products to 12 states including Abia, Rivers, Akwa Ibom, Delta, among others.

Traders at the Police Officers’ Wives Association Shopping Complex in the Computer Village, Ikeja area of Lagos counted their losses following the demolition of the complex on Sunday. It was gathered that the demolition took place in the early hours of Sunday with armed security operatives supervising the operation.

At least four cows, three goats and an office building belonging to the National Council of Arts and Culture were lost to a late-night fire that gutted the National Arts Theatre, Iganmu, Lagos State on Saturday. The Head, Public Education Unit of the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service, Amodu Shakiru, disclosed this on Sunday.

A content creator, Adebukola Kolapo, has allegedly been in the custody of the National Cybercrime Centre of the Nigeria Police Force, in Abuja, for three weeks over his frequent engagements on posts made by a popular Instagram gossip blog, ‘Gistloverblog Mediaoutlet’. It was learnt that Kolapo was an active follower of the blog, and was once a beneficiary of the blog’s scholarship scheme in 2022.

. The Benue Security outfit known as ‘Benue State Community Volunteer Guards has arrested a 29-year-old artisan for owning an illegal firearm. The artisan was arrested at the Wadata area of Makurdi, the capital city on December 26 at about 8:pm while trying to escape arrest.

 Yoruba Nation activist, Sunday Adeyemo, alias Sunday Igboho, has described as misleading the categorisation of the agitation for the Yoruba Nation as part of the threats to Nigeria’s peace. He was reacting to a remark credited to the Director of Defence Media Operations, Maj Gen Edward Buba, who listed the Yoruba self-determination movement as a threat to the peace in the South-West zone.

He congratulated Nigerians for making it to 2024 in a New Year message by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Eseme Eyiboh, in Abuja. Akpabio expressed optimism that with President Bola Tinubu in the driving seat, the country would regain its enviable place in the comity of nations.

 Reports have emerged that the veteran Nollywood actor, Zack Orji, is currently in a critical condition and has been taken to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of the National Hospital, Abuja. The actor, who featured in numerous movies, was said to have felt ill a few weeks ago and collapsed in the toilet.

 The Labour Party (LP) has said that the 2024 budget passed on Saturday by the National Assembly failed to prioritise welfare and security of Nigerians but instead focused more on funding the luxury of the political elites. National Publicity Secretary of the LP, Obiora Ifoh, said this on Sunday in a 2024 New Year message of the party.
