Labour Room Drama

Three labour room dramas in one!!!

FIRST LABOUR ROOM DRAMA
After our wedding and the gbenshing, I took in the first month. I had to stop my private school teaching job because I was weak and vomitting after meals.
My landlady was so nice to me, she took me to the hospital as my husband had gone to his offshore job. I stayed at home throughout the pregnancy.

On a fateful Tuesday, that was my EDD, after returning from the clinic, I decided to eat ice cream, I was yet to finish up the ice cream when I felt the urge to visit the toilet. As I bent down to ease myself, my water broke.
Luckily, my husband was on his time off, so, he took me to the hospital, I got to the hospital around 5pm. I was checked by the nurse and I was just 2cm dilated.

The most painful part of labour for me was the checking, the nurses kept coming to check but labour wasn't progressing, even the doctor checked. I was in severe pain throughout the night. At a point, I was vomitting.
At 6am the next morning, the doctor, set a line for me to hasten labour and gave me an episiotomy, within 30minutes I pushed my handsome son, with head full of hair, out. He weighed 3.8kg.
I wish it ended there. The baby and I were cleaned. My Mom of blessed memory, came into the ward to make tea for me. I just felt that I was getting tired, I told my mom I wanted to sleep. Thank God I didn't sleep unto death.

One of the auxiliary nurses came in and noticed to that the sheet was stained, unknown to me I was bleeding, the doctor had to come back to remove blood clots. It was really painful, more painful than labour and delivery itself, you know I had been stitched from the episiotomy. I cried like never before.
I was discharged after two days.
It was a traumatic experience, I vowed that I won't visit the Labour Room again. Gbenshing resumed after the eighth day naming ceremony. After six weeks, I ran to the clinic to get oral contraceptives. My son will clock 10 in September and he has two siblings.
Who else resumes Gbenshing as fast as me?

(Wait wait wait, you got sewn up but you resumed gbenshing on the 8th day after delivery? Are you kidding me?)

SECOND LABOUR ROOM DRAMA
After vowing that I won't visit the Labour Room again, any time I visit a new mom and her baby, to carry belle go dey hungry me. God intervened and I decided to stop taking contraceptives. I took in after some months of stopping the contraceptives.
My second pregnancy was the easiest of all. I already got a teaching job with the government, I was healthy, active and strong throughout the pregnancy.

On a fateful Sunday morning, two days before my EDD, mild contraction woke me up, I woke my husband up that it was time. I took my son to the bathroom, the contraction no free me to bath him. My husband helped in bathing him. To bath myself nko, contraction no gree. I just had to pour water on my body and jumped out of the bathroom.
It was 7am by the time we got to the clinic, when the doctor checked me, I was already 10cm dilated but the baby had not descended into the birth canal. I was given an episiotomy and he had to use forceps to pull the baby out.
Within 30 minutes of arriving the hospital, my second son was delivered weighing 4.2kg. He will turn 7 in April.
As usual, Gbenshing resumed after the eighth day naming ceremony.

(Ah ah!!!!! what is it with you and your hubby and the 8th day gbenshing?)

THIRD LABOUR ROOM DRAMA
After the birth of my two sons, I decided that I have had enough. My husband insisted that we will have one more. I told him after my masters degree, I got the degree. I told him after buying a car, he bought me a car. I was still posting him. He was always reminding me of my betrayal and not keeping to my words.
Eventually, I succumbed to his pressure and we started trying for another baby. I got pregnant. The pregnancy stage wasn't as easy as my second pregnancy but it was easier than my first pregnancy.

I attended the antenatal classes and took my medicine religiously.
At 33weeks, I started having serious contraction. We went to the clinic, I was checked but I was not dilated at all. I was given injection and medicine to stop the contraction. After then, I started having irregular contractions but I was bearing the pains.
At 38 weeks, on a fateful Saturday night, one of the irregular contractions started at 11pm. I thought it was the usual episodes of contractions, I was bearing it till midnight. When it was 3am on Sunday, I started vomitting, I told my husband it's time to visit the hospital.
We got to the hospital, I was checked but I was just 2cm dilated, I was getting really weak but the doctor told me to drink glucose.

The nurses and doctor kept coming to check but labour was not progressing, even after the doctor inserted a pill in my private part to hasten labour.
By Afternoon, I was tired of it all, I told the nurses not to poke hand inside my private part again, I told my husband to speak to the doctor to refer Me to a bigger hospital where I can have CS.

At 5pm, I was referred to a bigger hospital, before 7pm, my beautiful baby girl was brought out weighing 4.2kg.
Whoever said CS was easy or is for lazy women must be dreaming. I have been there and I can tell you that, bringing a child into this world is not a simple task. Kudos to all women.

My baby girl and last child is 4months old.

Note
In Nigeria of today, to have access to good health care, you must have money. I abandoned my Health Insurance because of the bad attitude of the health workers in charge of the scheme. We had to pay from our purse to get better treatment. Thank God everything ended in praise.

(What happened on the 8th day?)

    2. Gifty...

Please, I keep seeing laughing emojis in your comment, but I am yet to see what's funny! Any man that witnessed his wife going through labour and delivery...yet, still demands s*x within hours of birth, should hang his head low!!

These men lack self-control. They lack empathy! They are selfish! Their wives are tired, bleeding and sore...yet, they only thinking of their pleasure. #disgusting

  15. 8 days you say??
I couldn't even imagine resuming until 7 months post partum. Although in my case, I had a really traumatic experience where my episiotomy site had to be reopened and restitched 4 months after delivery. Even at that, the pain is usually still fresh till at least 2-3 weeks na

  16. 8days how? 13weeks after dedication.
