I went to my former residence last week to see someone and I was told of a woman I know whose husband is still struggling with walking after recovering from stroke, that his elder son broke his spinal cord.
ReplyDeleteWhere he was working, a heavy wood fell on his back while bending and that was it. They have spent heavily and the hospital is still demanding. The young boy of less than 20yrs can't sit or stand. He has been sleeping on his back and belle and that's how he's being fed.
Few years ago, there was an accident that claimed everybody on the vehicle except one woman. At first they thought she was dead and on their way to the morgue, she shook her body. It was then they discovered she was the only surviver. There was a problem. She broke her spinal cord.
There was nothing they didn't spend for an operation. More than five million here in Nigeria but to no avail.
The woman and her husband were so wealthy but the condition defied what money can do.
Finally they brought her home and she was confined on bed. She can't walk, stand or sit.
She became the one consoling people who visited saying at least she is alive. The husband became a full time house husband taking care of her. She poo and urinate on the bed.
Eventually, she passed on two years later.
So when When I see someone being matched at the back at their instruction as a form of massage, I get so scared. When I see kids do the backfling thing or jump from height, I do caution them. For I have seen what a broken spinal cord does to one and the body.
Please if you need a massage, visit the Spa or still, let your partner uses his hands to massage you than telling someone to match your back.
I saw my neighbor doing this last week inside the compound hence I am sharing here so people can be careful.

Delete80% of the time I prefer texting to calls. The other 20%, it has to be something very important, urgent or something that needs immediate response. Eg; Hello xxxxx quick one, where's xyz located? How did you get abc? Ok bye. Talk later. Calling me to do small talks when we're not in any romantic relationship stresses me. Just text me.
ReplyDeleteSecondly, don't just show up and say I was just passing decided to stop by and visit you without informing me. I prefer, we talk about you coming around first or me agreeing to you coming. Don't just show up. I don't like it.
I process things alot and I need time to figure out how to respond to either a call or a visit. If you show up or call when I'm stressed out, my response or reception will be cold. I really don't know how to fake it if not given time to process and you can easily tell from the other side of the call or my attitude and some see it as rude. The romantic partner or very few close friends will understand. The rest won't. It doesn't happen all the time though, mainly when I'm stressed out. The other times I'm not stressed I can be very warm.

ReplyDeletein church, a new convert, a lady shared a testimony that caused a stir. The background to it was that in the on going 21 days fast, pastor had declared that God will raise people up unexplainably this January and everyone said amen as per usual. You know sometimes you just say Amen in church for the sake of saying it. the day she came to church for the first time was 12 days into the fast, she hadn't fasted nada and she looked different from everyone. Imagine a gen z baddie in a deeper life setting, that's the nearest image I can describe. Anyway girl's voice was loudest than everyone anytime pastor spoke a blessing and it was noticeable. At one point, some even laughed because it was odd. So she came to church to testify with letter of employment and a 1.5m check (wardrobe allowance) to testify about a new job she is resuming Monday. She also wore better and godly clothes, It happened that she stopped going to church several years back but just suddenly entered that evening and made a promise to God to return to God if her interview went well. Na so everywhere scatter. The amen I heard today alone, I am convinced is the loudest heaven has heard in a long time. Even at home, my parents were like, girl wey just come God bless so, the WhatsApp groups is full of gists . All of a sudden, our small church con dey very serious. Even my father that doesn't talk in church said very loud amen that got me rolling. The laugh I have been laughing this week, God will have to forgive me

While she might just be an actor that was paid to come and ginger you guys (because that allowance/even sign-on bonus would have been paid to her account instead of the cheque) people need to remember that God sees the heart. DeleteSo I heard that some people do preserve their wedding cakes for like 6months to 1yr. Some people that did like 3 steps cakes even said they kept the last step and used it to mark their first wedding anniversary 😱 it's really shocking to me , mine was not even up to 2days before it finished. Who has heard something like this before?
ReplyDeleteIn my culture it’s the tradition to preserve a piece of the wedding cake for the 1 yr anniversary. But many couples usually get a separate cake from the display cake for themselves.

When you opened your first office, someone who was doing a similar business unprofessionally decided to relocate her business because she can't compete with me.

A part of me wants to correct that impression but the other wants me to overlook and just focus on doing what I came here to do which is business.

I took orange first thing in the morning and started having cramps immediately -i lost a one month old pregnancy...my new year gift...I have been sad...ps I bled for 7days after Which I went for a scan..the scan says the miscarriage was complete and the person in charge told me i wont be needing aan evacuation...it's been a week now,please when can i start having sex?

DeleteI am sorry. After a miscarriage I would wait at least 3-4 weeks before resuming. I have never had a miscarriage nor am I a medical professional, I am just thinking your body still needs to heal.
DeleteIt’s not the orange at fault. 25% of first pregnancies end in a miscarriage, it happens very frequently even in women who already gave birth. My aunt gave birth once and she never conceived again and that was 50 years ago.

DeleteThis superstition Nigerians have regarding travelling and revealing their travel plans is just over the top sometimes.
ReplyDeleteI was relocating cities and had a box I wanted to ship to Naija. Didn't want to move with them so called a relative who used to ship stuff and pleaded if he can will connect me with his shipping guy. He agreed for me to send the box to his address and he will send to his shipping guy, of course I would cover the expenses.
So I was very grateful and sent my box via a national courier service (as me and this relative lived in different cities). Not knowing that this guy was planning to travel to Naija with his family. And he didn't tell me.
Delivery took 2 days, the delivery guys delivered the box to his address, no one was in. They went back and came again the next day, still no answer. They them contacted me to check with the recipient as my bag was still in their depot and they couldn't hold it indefinitely.
I called my relative, not available. Then the wife, not available. Then I tried WhatsApp, only for him to say he was in Naija. I was shocked. But I told you I was sending something to you and you said it was fine. Delivery took 2 days, so your flight to Naija was booked for the next day or next 2 days and you couldn't tell me? Even if you don't want to tell me, as a witch that I am now, why not just tell me to hold on to the box for now instead of making me waste money?
So I reached out yo the delivery guys and told them the receiver was not around and they said they would send it back to where they collected it . But I had already relocated to my new city and told them they couldn't do thst as I no longer lived there. I asked them if they could send it to my new address and they said its not in their policy and it would require a whole new order and extra pay blah blah. I had no choice then to just agree to their terms or I would forfeit the box.
I just felt so bad at the end. This is someone that I confided in quite a lot, and even if he didn't think me trustworthy enough, he could have just stopped me from sending the bag and I wouldn't have had to spend all this money.
Anyway lesson learnt. This is why I don't even like to interact with Nigerians in the Diaspora. If it's not them trying to play you, it's them allowing superstitious and silly beliefs to ruin their relationships.

DeleteLadies, has anyone been to a bra fitting appointment before? So I did and discovered I've been wearing the wrong bra size my entire life. Mind-blown!! The stylist explained what to watch out for, tips like when you raise your hands in a bra the bottom isn't supposed to gape, the band size should actually fit on the first hook for a new bra and as the band weakens you then tighten as needed, your breasts aren't supposed to overflow from the cups because that means you're not wearing the right size, all the beast fat is actually supposed to be obtained in the cup and not spill out on the sides or top, when you bend your breasts are also supposed to still be contained in the cup and not pour out.
