ReplyDeleteAdeboye has left the building. They usually come back to confess when the deed is done. Let idiots keep paying them
ReplyDeleteNa wa ooooooo
ReplyDeleteWahalur dey o
ReplyDeleteDoes this mean tithing is wrong? I need honest answers oh. Is paying 10% wrong?
ReplyDeletePlease give 40% or everything if you can do it cheerfully but God does not spend Naira or $. There is no command to pay a particular percentage of income in the New Testament. God is not a stockbroker or investment banker.
ReplyDeleteThe only mention of tithe in the New Testament by Jesus Christ was ironically when he scolded religious leaders “ Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you tithe mint and dill and cumin, and have neglected the weightier matters of the law: justice and mercy and faithfulness. These you ought to have done, without neglecting the others.”
Then it was mentioned in passing about “Melchizedek king of Salem who Abraham paid tithe to”… still referencing the Old Testament Levitical priesthood structure. The children of Levi were not to work as they were priests in the Old Testament so they were to eat from the altar, so others gave a portion to them.
We are all members of the “Royal priesthood” through Christ, joint heirs with him of the promise. I am not suggesting what anyone should do just my own thought process please.
The church in Acts of the Apostles did not meet in buildings or own large properties, they met in homes of the members and shared with those who had none so everyone’s need was met. The church today hcannot feasibly meet in homes so they need buildings & pay bills. Do they need fancy huge ones? I don’t have an answer. I give offering freely to my church because I know how expensive it is to run the church & they have missionary work they update us on, Food pantries, school etc. They give account by holding business meetings to let us know how the monies are being spent and so everyone is carried along. I feel it is dishonest to quote Malachi while discarding all the dos & donts in Deutoronomy.
The “non tithers are robbers” movement started in the late 80s with the growth of the US style Pentecostal movement. As a Teenage born again in the 80s when all the current jet owners drove peogeout cars to the oldest university campuses to teach SU students who had access to their God given Bible knowledge, I never heard of it. Then Rhema by late Kenneth Hagins Sr & churches like that came on campuses, first with more liberal dressing, then the prosperity gospel in a poor country which means you can have to get the money by levying the average & the poor. Then the worship of humans started with the zero accountability structure in Nigeria. The rest is living history.
There is NO compulsion with Christ, no amount is small or big, hence the story of the widow’s mite, less than a cent! Give cheerfully, the work of God must go on but don’t let anyone guilt you. God says “the cattle on a thousand hills belong to him” and when Jesus needed money, he commanded it out of the mouth of a fish. “ But so that we may not cause offense, go to the lake [the Sea of Galilee] and throw out your line. Take the first fish you catch; open its mouth and you will find a four-drachma coin. Take it and give it to them for my tax and yours”. To pay taxes not to use on himself. Malachi is now synomymous with tithe. The most important part of Malachi is actually the part about treating your wife right that your prayers be answered but you don’t hear that. These are the last days. Read about the 7 types of churches in Revelation and make your deductions with the help of God. As I said, this is my thought process based on my relationship with my Lord & Saviour, it’s an insult to think I can bribe him into blessing me. He gives to all liberally, the reason Elon Musk, Mark etc all have so much. It’s not the lottery or powerball. The church has bills to pay and we must pay it. Cheerfully. Love gives. “For God so loved that he gave…”.
Hmmn..na wa
