  1. My early teenage years, and early 20's, Christmas was interesting. We always cooked (jollof/fried rice, pounded yam, and my Big Mum always made sure there was turkey). It was a yearly thing, and then we invite our neighbours over. I miss those years. I am not smelling Christmas, I already know it's gonna be a dry one

    1. No matter how harsh or bad the economy of Nigeria is, Christmas in my place is always lit.

Lots of happening and activities. Generally, it's never a dull moment in Eastern Nigeria. I don't know for other places..

  3. Last year cause my phone was moved and it was sorta bleak
Imagine not having a phone during Christmas
Christmas eve in Okene (that I am now) used to be fun fun back then with the knock outs/bangers being thrown to scare us
Aunty Faith then will be dragging us and running at the same time cause of the countless bangers sounding everywhere
They were even using it to attack people like they don't know it can inflict injury
    Lol
We used to move from house to house for Christmas rice and chicken but not anymore
I guess it gets to that point you outgrow certain things
Looking forward to the one of the day after tomorrow

  4. Never really had what I'd say is a memorable christmas growing up. They were all bland. But I'm changing that narrative for my sons though. Every Christmas will be very unique for them. They will have very memorable christmas every year going forward. It will become a tradition for us.

    Merry Christmas everyone!

  9. Every Christmas is memorable to me and my siblings because my parents will make sure we have fun by taking us to amusement park, eateries on the island, National theater, bar Beach which we take pictures together and jolloficate with ice-crream, chicken pie, fried rice and chicken and there be dancing competition with other friends which the best dancer will be given a cup of ice-crream.
O I wish I can turn back the hands of time.of going back to be teenager without challenges.

  10. I miss Xmas rice, stew and using Andrew Liver Salt to calm that bulging belly. Straight to toilet then to more chin chin, kunu, then zobo, jolly juice then constipation.

  11. All my childhood Christmas from age 5 when I had sense till age 17 where my favorite, no particular one to pinpoint. Christmas was super fun, I can't describe it, from the visitations and collecting money and eating food and packing drinks from homes we visited(even if we were full🤣), watching Dad and Uncle slaughter goat at our backyard, our 24th pepper soup night, egusi and pounded yam on Christmas morning, Palm wine, jollof or fried with salad and fried chicken and goat meat on Christmas's afternoon. My mama sabi cook no be lie. Us checking our Christmas cloths in my moms special box all the days in December and anticipating 25th December?
    Omo no feeling like that.
    Those were my best Christmas.
Adult Christmas sweet too, but not like childhood.
But soon I will experience a "best adult Christmas"
I give God thanks cos He gave me a very special Christmas gift this december.
It's still safe to say this is the best so far for this particular gift.
    Better is coming

  14. Hmm Stella this is taken me back to yesteryears. Omg I remember and just smile. There was one Christmas I was around 9 or 10 years; nothing at home to eat. My parents were concerned and then someone just knocked and we saw a mutual family friend bearing rice and chicken; plus a little token followed. You need to see how my parents were joyous and praising God.

I will never forget that day: I can't remember the name of the person who brought the food. We were very grateful and happy.

  15. This is the first time I'll be celebrating Christmas without my mum. She died last week Friday and will be buried next week Thursday and Friday. I believe she's in a better place where there's no worry or anguish. This teaches that we should be prepared for the second coming of Christ because he'll come like a thief in the night without notification

  16. Christmas was really fun for me growing up. We always spent it at my cousin's house. Lots to eat and drink and plenty money dashed to us. Then my aunty will pack all of us inside her car and off we go to leisure land or lekki beach or water parks. Oh,what fun we had! I am married now and I always try to make Christmas memorable for those around me. I always host my family members on Christmas day after which we go out to hangout someplace nice to take pictures and make memories. Pleasure park has our go-to place for the past 3 years now.
But this year,I won't be doing much as I'm pregnant and on bedrest at home
.No hosting anybody this year. I really feel bad for my 6 year old son who will have to miss out on all our fun stuff this year. I will see if my hubby can take him out to the Christmas funfair at oxbow lake. But next year...we back baby!!! It will be lit as always!. You all have a wonderful Christmas celebration..

    2. 1991 Christmas.
One I wanna I gonna from Oraifite came for my hand in marriage, and I was preparing for SSCE the following year.
He came with too many gifts, currency stuffed up in a wallet and blocks of newly printed Nigeria N50 notes. Haaa🥺

Marriage ke, Mumsie was like "She's just tall o,odika enene li SSCE, guy said he will wait". At a point he was crying. Hian.
Day after day , argument after argument, his cousin Chief Emeka (surname withheld jor) was called in to come over and settle it.
He came with pocket filled with kolanuts (gworo), jokingly he was screaming "chinekeee" all over the place while munching them seriously.😪 Very funny man. He and Popsie entered "Obi" and spoke Hausa only for about 1hr then he convinced his cousin to quit.
What they agreed on till date I was not told 🤷 they left behind all the gifts sha.
      Then I was nicknamed"ogba Oso"
      Whateva!
      🙄🙃

He said he didn't know it was the last one,he thought one of the older ones. Mumsie was like "Emeka knows all of them from Jos to Kaduna, what is all this?"
      Hmmm.

For 2 years I didn't near villa for Christmas. Marry bawo?
Me that was eyeing Baltimore-Maryland for medical school and other things.

      Thereafter,there was more suitors,plenty. Dang!

  18. My daughter's first Christmas. On the 24th we noticed she looked plumpy and her cheeks were really rounded. Everyone was hailing her for eating and showing evidence. As a mother, I wasn't convinced but I didn't want to be a kill Joy.
The morning of 25th, baby wasn't her usual joyful self. It turned out she had mumps. That was how we missed out church celebration the next day. She had been exposed when the child of her school's proprietress had it but he wasn't isolated. Same way he exposed her to chicken pox. God is good.

  20. I can't forget one Xmas period we travelled to the village. My mum had already bought two live chickens for Xmas but unfortunately she took ill and was admitted in the hospital. We were worried as kids and when she couldn't come home by the 24th, my dad asked my senior sister who was around 11 or thereabout to make the food. He helped us with the killing of the chickens and left the cleaning for us. Myself and my sister made a pot of stew filled with meat and ants. The chickens had feasted on some ants and they landed on our pot of stew.
