Sad Story Of Man Who Returned To Nigeria Homeless And Broke After 30 Years In The Diaspora

A Nigerian man, Joseph Ibironke aged 68,has recounted how he spent over 30 years in UK and US in search of greener pastures only to return back to Nigeria poor and broke.

In an exclusive interview with Punch, Mr Ibironke revealed that he was in his early 30s between 1983 to 1984,when he left his job at Union Bank and moved to the UK for 9 years, working as a security guard for Burns International Security Services Limited.
In the process of searching for better living condition,he moved to the US where he first worked with the Federal Bureau of Investigation Police Department before resigning to be a pastor. He also recalled becoming a successful electronics dealer.

Mr Ibironke recalled losing contact with his four children born in the US, because their mother left him when he fell terribly sick.

Narrating the events that led to his strange illness,Mr Ibironke said he had started barking like a dog and foaming in the mouth, one night after being intimate with his wife, leading to him being rushed in an ambulance to the Cal State Teaching Hospital, California.

He stated that the doctors were unable to dictate the cause of his strange ailment after spending 14 months in the hospital, after which he was advised by the Nigerian Community in the US to go back to Nigeria to seek spiritual help.

On returning back to Nigeria, Mr Ibironke recounted being abandoned at the psychiatric hospital and later at the Kiri Kiri Correctional Service, after his relatives abandoned him.He started sleeping under the bridges in Lagos until a fellow pastor, named Labe Orun interceded.

Mr Ibironko recalled regaining a partial recovery under the counsel and assistance of Prophet Ezekiel Oladeinde after he spent six years at the Pakoto Prayer Mountain in Ifo, and it was after his recovery in 2014 that he realized he was in Nigeria.

    1. Does thus sound like a full picture to you? What did his African relatives see to take him to a psychiatric hospital and leave him there for so long? Are her relatives nit in Nigeria for him to contact then concerning his children?

When you want testimony to be sweet, don't forget that the listeners are also thinking.

Well men have being abandoning women over 9 month pregnancy so let every body suck it up. It is well. Life goes on.

    1. I think the genesis of his ailment is not ordinary at all.
According to reports, his ailment started after he told his brother back in Nigeria that he would be coming back to Nigeria soonest.

Meanwhile this same brother has sold all his properties immediately he travelled and chased his Nigerian wife away from the house.

This same brother too was the one that went to pick him up from the airport, alongside his son whom he claimed he sponsored his education from secondary to university.

He started barking like a dog after he sent this same brother 20k.

Am not that much of a spiritual person but something is really fishy judging from how the events played out

  6. This is what happens when a man is not content and happy with what he has. How could you have left Union Bank for the UK then to the USA for what? Contentment is key. In addition, There is no way a woman and her children would leave their father. The true story is not out. But I pray they reach out to him now

  7. Sorry about your ordeal.

Hope you didn't cheat on your wife sha (not only sexually) cos I don't understand how a woman will up and leave with your kids, especially in a place like US. Some men will have money and not even think about future. They are all about now now now.

  8. Stop going back to Nigeria when you’re sick
People leave good hospitals abroad to go home and sick help. Why? What type of prayer needs you to actually be present
Let them pray for you while you continue getting medical assistance abroad

  10. Please, this ish is becoming too much!! I know we're in December, and money must be made for the Christmas season, but this scamming a$$ story is highly irritating!

Less than a month ago, this story was reported on this blog. Today, they have changed some details and are claiming something else.

The story has changed to him now being a security guard, abroad. I thought he said he studied 'banking and finance' at a UK institution.

They kept the 9 years in UK; 21 years in the US; sleeping under bridges; and 6 years at a mountain in Ifo part of the story.

They thought adding random places of employment and healthcare would legitimise the story, but it doesn't!!!

Initially, he had one son whose age didn't even add-up, according to the timeline he presented. Now, he has 4 American-born kids.

Before, he said his wife back in Nigeria was maltreated by his brother... now his wife is in the US and has abandoned him, after getting rabies-like symptoms!

  13. You people will always look for excuse to give on why he didn't make it over there!! I have said it before and I still say it again, abroad is not Heaven, that are better infrastructure there, doesn't mean that everyone over there is making it. There will always be the rich and the poor worldwide,to survive any where in this world,is by God's grace.
There are parts in the abroad you will never believe exist, unless you see it with your eyes.Just the way ,there are slums here,is the same way slums exist over there. In this life, anywhere you are, just pray for God's favour.

  14. The truth is not everyone will make it in life,so when people who did not make it comes out to tell their story, stop ditching it and say they are trying to discourage others, or start giving reasons why they didn't make it! Such is the realities of life,if you are successful, thank God,if you are not, thank God.Life goes on.

  16. I don’t know what happened to this man, but I hope he gets some help. So many ppl on this planet not everyone’s story will be good. Life will pummel the shit and senses out of you if you ain’t strong, and it is only through grace and mercy that any of us have a good story to tell.

May God have mercy and remember the plight of this old man and give him a new story.

  18. Nigerians believing every storyline.

Google all those places, apart from the FBI,
    do they exist?

If they do, find out if he ever worked there.
They are not like Nigerian institutions, they respond to mails, calls and have well kept records.
Call the so called pastor on the so called mountain, ask questions.

Use common sense, even if you have to borrow it, and ask questions.

By the time you're through, baba and his crew o ti sa lo. 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

    Y'all gonna learn.
