President-General Of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Talks About The Igbos And Lagos
Chief Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu, President-General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, has said that Igbo forebears are “the pioneers” and “heroes” of modern Lagos State. Iwuanyanwu stated this in a press briefing video that has gone viral. He was indirectly responding to the comment the Oba of Benin, Oba Ewuare II, made in relation to the origin of the state, which generated controversy. - dailypost

While I will never buy into the wrong narration that Lagos is a no man's land, for there are natives who actually own the state.
ReplyDeleteBut truth be told, the Igbo men are the developers of Lagos. This stand undisputed and unchallenged. . Most of the swamp area were filled and monumental edifice erected and when I see how those places are been pulled down and confiscated, I weep for my brothers.
Take away every Igbo man and their businesses in Lagos, its IGR will drop drastically. Almost all the major markets are being runned and developed by the Igbo traders.
This is one of the reason a seaport in the South Eastern region will continue to suffer a huge setback. It's not a good thing for an Igbo business man to import a goods from China to Lagos at 1.1million and then from Lagos to Onitsha spent 2.4million. All this could have bee avoided if there was a seaport in the Eastern region.
Please nobody owns any state in Nigeria, every state in Nigeria are owned by Nigerians. Point of correction.
DeleteThe victim mentality always. There is no seaport anywhere in the north. But go to Kano, it is a business hub. People come from all over AFRICA to kano markets. This ur sea port narrative, i don’t buy it.
DeleteSecondly, yes we all agree that the Igbos contributed immensely to the economic growth and development of Lagos, but at this point, you as an Igbo man should be ashamed to say it. What happened to ur own states and markets? When Nigeria started changing, ur people should have changed their investment plans too.
Let me tell you a little something, there is an Igbo man at every point of governance only the President and VP are not from the South south. You have Igbos in the Senate, you have them as Ministers, as head of agencies, if not now, they were once there, so if policies were made that didn’t favor the East, they had the opportunity to kick against them, but they didn’t. Bad governance. Hold them accountable and quit sounding like Nigeria has not been fair to the Igbos.
There was a time these politicians tried to sell us the narrative that, president Yar Addua had awarded the contracts for the dredging of river niger so that there would be sea port in the north for ease of business, so that the northern man won’t go to Lagos to clear his business, however, as soon as President Goodluck came and saw that it was about to build the North, he redirected the contract and that was the end of it. The first thing i asked the person telling me was, we have northerners at every point of governance, what did they do when he stopped the contract? Because i know a president cannot single handedly stop something like that. What did the northern representatives in govt do about it? Nothing!! Bad governance, so we should hold them accountable. Do not shift the blame.
Finally, i think it would be good to learn one or two things from late King Faisal of Saudi Arabia, who was threatened by the US for boycotting them for the support they were giving Isreal against Palestine, they threatened to bomb his oil wells, and he told them they could go ahead, it was America that could not survive without oil. His forefathers survived on dates and they did well, so the Saudis could go back to the ways of their fore fathers.
The lesson here is, call their bluff, use what you have to build urself and don’t ever let anyone keep u at their own terms.
Build ur cities and markets, invest in ur states and stop waiting for Nigeria to do a seaport in the East, they might never do it. Their priority is to buy cars for themselves worth billions of Naira, including ur Igbo reps that are there, cos i have not seen any of them reject it and tell them to use the money and invest in the East.
👏👏 @11:36
DeleteI have been to Kano and the place is good to go no jokes
11:08, Indigenes of a state own that particular state. If you think i am joking, if you are from Anambra for instance, go and settle in Bauchi and apply for work in the state civil service and see if you would get, they would tell you are not an indigene. Ur rights on paper are different from ur rights in reality. Know this and know peace.
DeleteAnon 11:36,
DeleteLet's forget about the Eastern seaport if that will be a problem to dredge.
What about Calabar seaport already existing. Why was it stopped. What of Warri? Port Harcourt seaport isn't operating fully. What does that tells you?
It tells me that the people from that axis that have been elected to represent their people and get things done on their behalf have failed woefully. It means when they got to their offices they got carried away and didn’t do what they were sent to do.
DeleteTeejay!!!!!!
DeletePlease STOP this victim mentality.
Please don't raise your children with this mindset.
You brought up the "edifices " being pulled down. Did they have full proof permits or did they "pay" their way through It!.
During the tenure of BRF as governor, families lost houses, land etc in GRA Ikeja, Ogudu and Magodo.(Those are old money locations from a particular tribe). We didn't hear too much noise about it and definitely not tribal noises.!!!!
What they did was take the government to court. They won huge compensations!!!
You make it out like people lived in huts in Lagos prior to these "edifices". Sorry, but please be informed that I grew up in a mansion, surrounded by same and most of our neighbours weren't from a particular tribe only.
We keep blaming the officials that take bribe, I hope you know that it is also an offence to offer and give it.
When Some Nigerians want something or do something wrong, the first thing is to say "how much you go take to do am, process am, look away, erase am etc etc"
Teejay, I can go on, but I won't because you are suffering from acute mental blockage.
Shit happens Teejay, we either get up and try again or stay down and blame every and any!
Please read 11:36 again with a different mindset and maybe, just maybe you will begin to process stuff differently.
Anonymous 11:36 👍👍 omo you finish work.
DeleteI don’t understand this constant need to prove that you built another person’s land. Kano ppl stayed bck and built kano, today it is the business hub of the north. It should be a shame, that we have Onitsha, Aba and the rest, you ppl didn’t stay back to build it, instead you built lagos and now at every point, there is a constant dragging of who built what. I know Nigeria is for everybody on paper, but in reality, we know our selves. So pls, if it was a mistake, the early men made, it is time to correct it. Start investing and building ur states.
ReplyDeleteGbam. As in, why not build your own cities and states. I just don’t get it honestly.
DeleteThank you 💕
DeleteExactly Anon,

Delete@ Teejay. How much tax do traders pay as tax?, I laught as all this talk of them beimg major contributors to IGR.
ReplyDeleteYes the commercial developers will pay the required levies but you're doing that to make money.
Its annoying when people sound as if paying tax from a place you make so much money is an act of benevolence. Why not go back to your state and make money there and pay tax?.
By the way I am not from Lagos but we need to tell ourselves the truth . I pay my tax and respect myself. How come other tribes are living in Lagos peacefully?
Is it that a certain tribe has a back for cutting corners, if not why are they always caught when there is a talk of building without approval or blocking canals?
You'd be shocked to know what huge companies pay as PAYE tax monthly.
Stop this joke of traders giving huge IGR to Lagos, they always like to pay the barest minimum.

DeleteAnon, how do you come to the conclusion that they are cutting corners? Who gave them the permit to build in the first instance in a water ways? So you mean Lagos state officials are complicit of the cutting corners?
DeleteWe should be sincere to ourselves. The Igbo man to a large extent developed Lagos state to what it is today.
Teejay,
DeleteCan you hear yourself??
How the Fcku do you send other people's children to school while leaving yours to be illiterates?
In other words, how do you nuilyup another region while going to yours only during Xmas to pepper your perceived enemies (neighbours)?
Teejay, please now!
Make this make sense!!!
Anon 13:10,
DeleteI'm not happy about it and if you are following me closely on this blog, you would know I'm one among the people calling for Igbo business men to think home in their business investment.
Go up to my comment I posted beneath an Anon where I stated this;
''Exactly Anon,
Actions have consequences.
ife gburu nne ewu adighi ekwe umu ya saa anya.
ndi Igbo ifele megbuo anyi''
Ask for an interpreter. You'll understand I'm not happy with my brothers.
We would only be deceiving ourselves if we pretend like we don't know that people bribe the government officials to either get illegal approvals or pay them to pretend like they don't know that people are building in wrong places.
ReplyDeleteWhy are we suddenly acting like we don't know how we Nigerians pay our way to get what we want?
Are these government workers not our friends and family members?
I don't get it, why is everyone anonymous? Like wtf?😲
DeleteType and curse all you want, an Igbo man is on a "Success Cruise". That £20 pounds only after the civil war,the blessings are flowing in endlessly.
Stanel Group@Awka...just commissioned an eye popping edifice a 5-star hotel in Itirin junction, off Bishop Aboyade Cole Street, Victoria Island in Lagos, known as The Delborough. Highest and best in West Africa.
The move is on.
#akulueno.
Build in your home place, build in another region.
50-50.
The wake up call is now.
While your running your conspiracy and pull down theories, cash at hand is multiplying.
🤗😂
Xp most of us don’t have Ids, u cannot bite, so why would u think ppl go anonymous to say what they said? Nobody is envying the ‘success cruise’. Besides, i didn’t see anybody ‘curse’ any igbo person. It was an intellectual argument and by now you should know that only few people contribute to such in this blog.
DeleteI hear you.
Delete"Most of us don't have IDs" indeed.😂
The comments at 12:53 up there 👆 are what?
Praise and worship?😏
Or you own the comments?🙄

Hi Xp,
DeleteDelborough Lagos is a beautiful hotel on Aboyade Cole.
A new 5/7 star ⭐ pops up every 5years or so. A job well done and it was very well attended; as it should.
But Xp, please don't be naive. I'll leave it at that.
By the way, I have always commented anonymously.
The only person that
should know, knows my "handwriting" Lol.
Teejay will be running his mouth when it comes to tribal issues. The fact is you know nothing, only lies told to you.
ReplyDeleteTJ, be guided about this post, don't give the reactions which it is meant to create. Shine ya eyes!
ReplyDeleteAlright. I hear you.
DeleteHe's free to spew any trash out of his mouth.
ReplyDeleteThis is a free world
ReplyDeleteThe way they're going, they will soon tell us that Air Peace built or developed all the airports in Nigeria
ReplyDelete😂🤣😹
DeleteAnon 11:36, God bless u. This mentality of claiming to be better than ever1 else and saying it was you that built someone else's land is really a disgusting mentality. Why nit use same energy to develop their own states? Lagos is building mega rails now. I guess yall are the ones behind the development as well? Jokers
