Ondo State Governor Rotimi Akeredolu Reportedly Dies After Battle With Leukamia

Ondo State Governor, Rotimi Akeredolu, has passed on after a prolong battle with Leukemia.

Akeredolu reportedly died in Lagos on Wednesday, December 27, 2023 at age 67.
It was gathered that Akeredolu was being managed by State House doctors up to his death as they could not fly him abroad due to his condition.

“Akeredolu is dead; he died in Lagos,” the source said.
“They were looking for dialysis machines to be sent to his secret location in Lagos last week.”
Akeredolu had returned home after controversy begin trailing his extended medical vacation in Germany.
He then returned to his Ibadan residence, a move that led to further political crisis in his state especially with the deputy governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa.

After President Tinubu’s intervention, Akeredolu then handed over power to his deputy and proceeded on another medical vacation.

  4. If the cause of death of this man is natural, so be it. But if it has a spiritual undertone, I am so sorry for him. He meddled with the wrong people. Especially diabolical people.

    1. Who said no more pain and peace? If you die in sin without complete and total repentance, there's no peace in hell. You can only have peace in Christ Jesus. Hell is a place of torment, anguish and sorrow.
Make peace with your maker and man. Strive with everything in you to make heaven because everything is vanity upon vanity.

Stella, please, i plead with you, post.

    1. My sister i follow u, the way Nigerians forget so easily especially the attocities of politicians in this country, baffles me beyond words. Once the person dies, their sins r forgiven. U would see prayers like rest in peace, no more pain for u sir, imagine. What of the people he has caused pain that he was supposed to adequately represent in his state?
Abeg, whatever u sow u reap. My only prayer is, whatever good he did, he meets it there, whatever bad he did he meets it there, appropriately, amen.
Btw he wud always be remembered as one of the most selfish governors of all time who wanted to cling on to power till the end, even though he knew he was terminal.

  26. Had his immediate family protected his health and dignity instead of playing politics, he would have had better chances even though death may have still come. The doctors who have been treating him for years would not have had to scramble for dialysis machines.

This is the elephant that fellow governors where coerced into making a caricature of when he needed to be resting and being cared for, just to prevent someone else from upholding this man's giant strides. This is the man of integrity whose signature was being forged so that some people can swell their coffees for the coming elections:

A principled man who was consumed by petty principalities. Even in his dying days, those around him were still tweeting to score cheap points.

Akeredolu was a performer and a man of integrity who did so much to develop Ondo state. When he still had his wits abount him, he handed over power constitutionally and sought treatment. Those in his house collaborating with the cabal in government house collided to rubbish his legacy simply because of selfish interests.

Akeredolu was a nightmare to the military and he offered his legal skills generously for aluta and to ease pains of those around him. He stood in GEJ's defense concerning the transfer of power when the then president was physically incapable. Defying party politics and refusing to fall into tribalism and other forms of bigotry, he confronted the scourge of bandits, herdsmen and other criminals, banning open grazing and rousing other southwest governments to create and fund the successful regional Amotekun which has achieved a lot in terms of security. Due to this sharp drop in crimes of kidnapping and other violent crimes that some had planned to use as a means of crude colonisation, they especially retaliated against this perfomer but je was on the necks of the security agencies til the perpetrators of the bombing in Akure were nabbed. His strides of development and welfare in Ondo are unsurpassed.

That is the legacy of Akeredolu that I will remember, not what he was turned to by those with an axe to grind or personal interests to realise.

May God comfort his loved ones, the state of Ondo and the nation at large. Erin wo!!!

    1. I cannot believe that in Nigeria, with everything we see, there is a Nigerian that would write the number of paragraphs u wrote, praising any politician from anywhr within this country. With all the money allocated to each state monthly, Ondo is still one of the most backwards states in Nigeria, yet see praises. It’s like we are so used to being maltreated that we don’t even know the standard of development we deserve. If u knew how much is being allocated to these states from the federation accounts, vis a vis the level of development the governors bring ehn, we would have started throwing their bodies in the evil forest when they die, they don’t even deserve a decent burial.
Btw i am from Kano and my opinion would have been the same if it was a politician that died from my place. They are all the same.

    2. Anonymous 15.30, I had to go and read again o, I tot my eyes were paining me. See praises 🤷‍♀️
If I have not lived in akure before I might be doubtful but for someone who saw first hand shege in the hands of Aketi.
      @anonymous 11.43, Rest pls.
Before Aketi became governor, student living in oke aro, Ilesha garage could afford to go to school at Fiwasaye because buses were made available for them. Or is it Mother and Child hospital that was free to all pregnant women even if you delivered with CS, or parents that could not afford to pay waec for their kids that the previous government paid without questions.
The moment Aketi entered, everything was taken away, many students dropped out of school, mother and child is now monetized and so on. If an aspiring Governor could open his mouth to say he will turn where children are been delivered to a mortuary 🤷‍♀️
If anyone is praising a politician in this age and time in Nigeria then such person is enjoying goodies from the politician. Amotekun👀 Tell that to the families that are still living in fear because of what has happened to them.
      Rest pls.

    3. Feel free to type short paragraphs that will include your own contribution to nation building.

      Delete
    4. Negate any of the successes of Aketi listed above. It's always about personal interest, for the same masses who the government largely subsidizes. This is why tricksters like Aregbesola and most other governors will rather dangle free carrots before you instead of showing you the delayed payment at over 50 percent interest with defaulting doubling the burden. Nigeria has subsidized education at every level with the cheapest education in Africa and the beneficiaries as adults continue to demand that jobs be brought to their doorstep despite seeing their mates make their own way. It Subsidized loans in years past only to realize that graduates would not even refund what they owe or financially back their alma mater. The federal mortgage bank has also been abused by the same people and the fraction of cost for electricity ignored for decades by people who would just attach wires to their building to take power that isn't theirs. It's the same with most utilities yet the complainers are unable to see any single good in other areas such as road network, improved security and contributions in other areas of health that does risk the State being financially moribund. Is the cost of mother and child care not still far cheaper than in a private hospital?

Yet, government has done nothing and the subsidized exposure to economics doesn't suggest to you that a governor who would want to campaign on free everything may have looked at the books and quickly realized the need to charge a minimum fee so as not to run out of resources and default on debt.

If the service or good isn't free, the governor looking to preserve the quality of service is suddenly wicked but when it collapsed overnight under the weight of debt and goes moribund, it is the same tune from those who received so much but lack application.

Are prices of goods/ services and services globally rising or going down? Is education cheap? For a nation that indirectly subsidizes every adult citizen with a blue collar job by waiving taxes on income less than 25 million a year, can such people just acknowledge that they actually benefit from government? Most people addicted to the culture of "free now, pay forever" don't even realize that states collectively owe trillions of naira to commercial banks so their inhabitants are indirectly in decades long servitude with the belt getting gradually tightened every year. India traces it's recipients of student loans wherever they may be abroad to get their capital and interest right from when they apply for visas because they have also realized the huge ditch that sense of entitlement has created in the pocket and psyche of their nation and that way, they are able to at least maintain the quality of education.

If you think the taxes waived are worth nothing, look at the lives and imagine the depths of the pockets you pour that money into every Sunday or Friday including pilgrimages and you will understand that Nigeria, for a country indebted to her eyeballs, has done quite a lot for it's citizens with limited resources, and returns. There is no perfect government anywhere.

In a few years time you will fall for another snake oil salesman and then be harassing others to support him or her but in the meantime, be truthful about the scorecard of this performer who unlike you, did exceedingly well in his career as an activist, lawyer, politician and administrator.

Lay out your own achievements and contributions to yourself and your nation instead of chronically complaining.

      Delete
    5. Mr Anonymous, I don't have to lay out my own achievements because am not campaigning to be a governor and I am not a politician.
You know looking at your write up how you take the pain to lay out all those paragraphs for someone that was not loved by his own people shows that you one of those receiving crumbs from his table or you are just simply delusional.

    1. I wish he was surrounded by people who actually loved him and cared for his health these past few months when he needed such most. This was Turai and cabal vs Good luck once again.

Akeredolu could only have been discharged against medical advice and brought to block Aiyedatiwa from acting only if his next of kin signed the papers. He could only have been dressed up for a video op with other governors if his domestic circle permitted it.

This lady was gambling wildly with Aketi's life and fighting everyone instead of just focusing on the man that stood by her during her own health challenges. I honestly can't understand how she could convince herself to act this way.

Since the time Akeredolu publicly announced Lucky as his chosen successor after they won their second term bid, it ushered in a series of events and dramas that ultimately tarnished the man's image before those who don't know his character.

Since that announcement, it has been one intrigue after another. Various unconfirmed allegations of domestic violence were leaked to the press about the deputy and as an activist herself, this may have concerned her but asides from talking to her husband not to tinge his legacy in this way, she just connived with others in government to unconstitutionally fight a lost battle.

He should have stepped down to look after his health but he didn’t want to handover to his deputy until the president told him to focus on his health and handover. He’s been terminal for over a year so yes finally he’s dead. His family and a lot of people knew it was only a matter of time.
