Many Nigerian media, especially @AriseTV, are nothing more than propaganda outlets for failed presidential candidates. You can't have an agenda and still call yourself media. Reno Omokri speaks out against the proposed #5 billion presidential yatch in the budget, calls it insensitive

If the reports about President Bola Tinubu buying a ₦5 billion Presidential yacht are true, then it is most insensitive. Nigerians are facing some of the harshest economic realities of their existence. It shows a remarkable lack of empathy for the President to spend so profligately at a time when soldiers fighting the war on terror are dying and should be better motivated to build morale, pensioners are being owed, civil servants take home pay can no longer take them home, and fuel and food inflation is approaching 30%.

I supported the administration's floating of the Naira because Nigeria cannot continue spending $1.5 billion monthly to defend the Naira. But if we have to float the Naira, why should the President float on water in a new yacht? What is the urgency, necessity and decency of such a purchase when there are Nigerians all over the Northwest, North Central and Northeast who are internally displaced by insecurity and whose needs for shelter far outweigh the President's need for a new aquatic toy?

And this comes as it is revealed that the budget for the proposed student loan is just ₦5.5 billion. Are there people in the budget office who want to sabotage the President, or is the President sabotaging himself by fiddling while Nigerians churn in anger? Is there nobody close to the President that can tell him the truth? And if at all there is a need for a yacht (I can't see the need for it), I am convinced that Niger Dock can build him a boat for less than ₦500 million.

It is not too late for the President to stop this purchase if he genuinely loves the nation as he claims. He should remember what happened to Mobutu Sese Seko of the Democratic Republic of the Congo, who also bought a yacht when his country was fraught with economic drought.

I will celebrate the President when he does well and eviscerate him when he goes astray.

It does not matter if the Presidential yacht is for the Navy. And the claim that the President is unaware of it still makes it wrong. Whoever included that in the budget is likely a fifth columnist who wants to undermine the administration. It is highly provocative, coming at a time when Nigerians are facing monumental economic challenges. The President ought to realise that his name is at stake, and if he does not want to go into history as a Nero, who fiddled while Rome burnt, he should permanently delete this from this and subsequent budgets. We can't be labouring under a crippling debt and engaging in such frivolous expenditure. Additionally, he would be wise to find out who inserted such a vexatious item in the budget and take necessary action to prevent such sabotage against his regime.

I think at this point, the brain of some sect of people in Nigeria should be opened and studied and then destroyed forever.

I have no idea how anyone would see this president that has plunged the whole country into immense suffering but still ends up budgeting billions of naira for renovation of his apartments and then billions for a car for his wife. The same person tells u to endure the suffering he has plunged you into while he and his family swim in excessive wealth, which happens to be from ur sweat and that of ur fellow country people.

Roads are extremely bad every corner u turn, generator noise will never let u have peace of mind, even food, average people can no longer comfortably afford, talk more of poor people. Light you are not seeing. Your business, you cannot afford to keep afloat. People don’t even have extra money to even think of patronizing you.
Rain falls and you can’t step outside ur house or u risk having mud splashes all over ur body. Those of you that have cars may even end up getting stuck in one ditch somewhere.

Then one person will be speaking against all these ills and then these supporters that I have no idea how their brains are configured will come and be calling them wailers.

It’s easy to say we have washed our hands off this silly excuse of a government but how can we when every single move they make affect us and all our loved ones. Jesus!

I have lost respect for quite a few people I used to hold in high regards because I have no idea how anyone will see all these things happen and choose to instead berate the people calling them out. I’m glad there are only a few of those people that I know personally tho because most people I know, despite being of diverse tribes totally knew and have been proved right that ur current president is and can never be the solution Nigeria needs. He has kuku started proving us right.

"What's the difference between WILL and SHALL?", a lady asked in one of my classes.

Let me add some flesh to the answer I gave her 👇

Will is often used with ALL personal pronouns, namely: I, you, he, she, it, we, and they.

For example
I WILL visit you tomorrow.✅
She WILL never apologize for her lateness!✅
WILL you eat the food?✅
He WILL soon arrive.✅
It WILL eat the food.✅
They WILL sit their examination next week.✅

However, SHALL is used ONLY with "I" and "We" (first person singular and first person plural respectively).

For example
I SHALL visit again soon.✅
We SHALL visit again soon.✅
She SHALL visit again soon.❎

NB: Interestingly, the short form of will and shall is 'll.

For example:
I'll talk to you later.
This means:👇
I will talk to you later.
OR
shall talk to you later.

In everyday usage, SHALL is more formal than WILL.

Moreover, SHALL is often used much more in religious register 👇

You shall have no other gods before me.

You shall not take the name of the Lord your God in vain.

In addition, SHALL is used in legalese.

NB: Legalese refers to the language used by lawyers to draft legal documents. It's usually technical and sometimes difficult for ordinary people to understand.
