Tinubu, who assured the Judiciary of the Federal Government’s commitment to addressing the challenges confronting that arm of government, advocated for the appointment of justices of the appellate court from outside the bench.

. Saudi Arabian authorities have cancelled the visas of 264 passengers airlifted by Air Peace. The travellers discovered their fate on arrival in Jeddah from Kano; the authorities insisted the airline must return to Nigeria. Only 87 of the 264 passengers were cleared after Nigerian embassy officials intervened.

Justice Abiola Sholadoye of the Ikeja Special Offences and Domestic Violence Court on Monday arraigned and sentenced a 32-year-old street sweeper, Damilola Omojolowo, to life imprisonment for defiling a 14-year-old girl. Omojolowo was convicted on one count of defilement of the girl, whom he claimed was his girlfriend.
