Hon Prince Johnson Erijo, Chief of Staff to Governor Rt Hon Sheriff Oborevwori, emerged as the new Chairman Delta State’s Isoko South Caucus of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). The unanimous endorsement took place during a caucus meeting held in Asaba on Monday November 14, 2023.
Erijo, a seasoned former member of the Delta State House of Assembly representing Isoko South Constituency 2 and former Director General of the State Directorate of Projects Monitoring, succeeds High Chief Ross Uredi, who voluntarily stepped down after nearly eight years of successful leadership.
Leaders and elders from all wards of Isoko South expressed their support for Erijo’s appointment, citing his profound understanding of the state’s political history, extensive experience, years of dedicated service, and substantial contributions to the party’s success and the overall development of Isoko nation.
The elders highlighted that Erijo’s selection was particularly fitting given his prior role as Vice Chairman, emphasizing his familiarity with the challenges of leadership and consistent dedication to the party’s progress and the advancement of Isoko nation.
High Chief Uredi emphasized the meticulous process behind the leadership transition, ensuring balanced representation. With the outgoing chairman from Constituency 1, the chairmanship now rotates to Constituency 2, while the Vice Chairman hails from Constituency 1, achieving gender balance in the process.
In his acceptance speech, Erijo expressed gratitude to Chief Uredi for his contributions and leadership acumen.
