Court Bars NLC And TUC From Embarking On Nationwide Strike

The National Industrial Court of Nigeria (NICN) has issued an order of interim injunction prohibiting members of the Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC), the Trade Union Congress (TUC), and their affiliates from embarking on a nationwide strike.

The court made this order following an ex-parte application filed by the Federal Government through the office of the Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice.
The strike was planned to protest the attack and manhandling of NLC President, Comrade Joe Ajero, in Imo state by alleged state-sponsored thugs and security agents.

The court’s decision was made to avert untold hardships that would be inflicted on innocent law-abiding citizens and their businesses.
The case has been transferred to Justice Olufunke Anuwe, who is said to be handling similar labour dispute related matters.

The planned strike was scheduled to commence on November 14,2023

  3. I totally condemn what they did to Joe in imo state and I love how NLC shut down the state. Citizens be behaving like touts, governor be behaving like a tout, policemen too be behaving like touts allowing the governor to use them to cause mayhem in the state. What a state!

  4. What happened to the NLC president is wrong but I think things should be resolve amicably for parties involved before the government completely make them a toothless bull dog.
If they continue to be partisan and meander into affairs that doesn't concern them, very soon they will be history for the look of things.

  5. The way the government officials misuse courts in Nigeria. One is tempted to ignore the judiciary completely.
