Chronicle Of Blog Visitor Narrative

 Hmmmm.....

STAND ALONE NARRATIVE
ADVICE NEEDED

I’m in a dilemma now.
My mother lived and died in the UK. Her wish was to be cremated and her remains should be poured into river Thames. She told us not to take her back to Nigeria or her hometown Asaba in Delta state.

Her family back home asked for a cow at the cost of N125k but we gave them N250k. After watching her burial videos and seeing the lavishness in sending her off well ,they came back and demanded for N1.5mil.

We’ve refused to give more and told them to share the one we gave earlier.
Are we wrong? I’m just tired of all this traditions. When we were broke and hungry their traditions didn’t feed us.....

What is all this? Please block all their numbers and face front....N1.5 million for what? You guys even made a mistake of giving them 250k... And how did they see the videos of the burial if they were not there? You loaded it on the social media? I hope you guys learned from this, that not everything should put be out for public consumption.....Please dont give them a dime cos they will come back for more...

  9. Tradition sha.
If it's my place that you obeyed your mother's wish. I don't know what they will do but I am sure it will not be easy to appease them. We don't bury our own outside. Even when the corpse cannot be found, they will request something be put inside the casket and be buried in the land observing all burial ceremony.
You have obeyed your mother's wish and she is happy wherever she is. .
Stop all communications with them for now. Maybe in few years time do a memorial service for your mother in the village.. Cook and buy drinks for people. Let them eat.

Negotiate and pay. Tell them you spent Abroad thinking you have done all needed at home.

It clears your conscience. You would not attribute tomorrow issues to them. It is good to make peace.

Just pray for God's guidance and support in the whole matter.

Some of them are very wicked. Infact the demand is a sign of the wickedness.

But if you guys know assuredly your spiritual standing, you can ignore the demand.

  33. They asked for 125k to buy cow with golden horn, you wan prove unasef con give 250k.
Since you wanted to show that money o port what were you expecting from hungry people?
All these traditions in my opinions are completely meaningless and have zero weight. They are just yo feed a few hungry bellies and to prove that 'culture' or whatever or you wanna call it, is still strong.
Culture/Traditions that do not make sense, that are offer no benefits to the recipients, that one culture?

    ReplyDelete
  34. I don't know if 125k they initially requested for can buy a cow in today's Nigeria. However, 1.5mil is way too much. And even if it can't, they shouldn't have demanded for more money because it was their fault not doing due diligence on it. Plus you were generous enough to double it.

How many cows they wan ontop her head? Even if the funeral was in Nigeria, I doubt they would be entitled to more than one cow irrespective of the extravagance. Only additional things could be foods and drinks for refreshment (and life goat for pepper soupon the eve by umuada if in my place). The expenses might not exceed 500k.
