  1. Ever wondered why the rich almost always marry the rich and do business together? Well, they attend same schools. They fly same routes. They attend same events and hangouts. They patronize same vendors etc. As such, the chances of meeting, hooking up and bonding with each other, is very high! You get the drift?
One of the best things you can do for your kids, is making sure they attend very good schools! The schools may be pricey o, but your kids will get the chance to get 2 things:
    1. Quality Education
    2. Great opportunity to meet, network and establish lifetime bonds with affluent kids.
Nothing is absolute of course, and this is not a guarantee that your kids will still make the right call. However, the way the world is now, requires that you be intentional and proactive with your kids.

    3. One woman I know said it's better for her to send her children to rich big school so that the children will ningle with the rich too and equally marry the rich that she doesn't care if they learnt or know so much in school but let them mingle and marry the rich. So whatever works for one sha, let them do

    4. Reason why some parents from Surulere will send their children to schools in VI, Ikoyi, Lekki so that they can interact and form bonds with the children of the high and mighty...It is a way of being influential and get favours through contracts, marriages and e.t.c...

But the stress to keep up though. Good morning Ali B

    5. The average parent may not be able to afford the rich schools.
Some have to borrow, deny the kids and themselves some other vital things in order to be able to afford the rich schools. This is not okay.

About the quality of education, I have a first hand experience that not all rich schools give quality education, they just sell their name, social standard and exotic excursions and social activities. Some average schools give better quality of education.

Children who attend average schools also make it in life. There is no guarantee that attending a rich school when your parents are not rich will make you rich in future. After school, those rich kids most times only get to meet and mingle with fellow rich kids in their circle.

Also, sometimes, mingling with these rich kids in school and hearing/seeing what their parents do for them can cause low self esteem and bitterness in the average kids whose parents are struggling with payment of school fees.

Parents, don't kill yourself because you want your children to mingle with the rich, cut your coat according to your cloth.

At the end of the day, God's grace supercedes all.

    7. Anon 8:26: All your points are valid. And this exactly why I said nothing is absolute in life! However, the probability is very high when your kids attend such great schools and network with affluent kids. The positive possibilities are endless! πŸ’―

Anon 8:36, you are also right, see Pinky confirming your fourth paragraph up there. He said he felt like denying his parents when he saw the rich kids, now imagine him being in the same class with them🀣, but Pinky is just an exception. My own kids feel good in the midst of rich kids , you will see them copying the rich kids trying to speak and do face like them 🀣🀣🀣

    10. Just to also clarify, this post is not encouraging anyone to goan borrow to send their kids to expensive schools. If that's how you understood it, omoh, no be so.
The dynamics of the world has changed. Your network is your networth. Give your kids a solid headstart. However, no do pass yourself.

      Pinky: πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

    15. Ali @9:35, you are very correct @your last paragraph. Plenty children makes life hard for parents that are not rich. See how some people were encouraging one bv to have more kids after she said she was done with two, she is comfortable ,yet she is fine with two kids.
With two kids, you can go on vacation, afford good schools, eat well, save and build house, etc but our people want three to five kids. They don't care about the quality of life.

  2. A Calling To Glory And Virtue!!
    2 Peter 1:3.

    Excerpts!!

"The verse above says God has called us to glory and virtue. That means we’ve been called to a life of honour, heavenly dignity, and excellence. No matter what situation you find yourself in, your life is one of honour, dignity and excellence."

"How could you live an ordinary life when you have a calling to glory and virtue?"

"It doesn’t matter how dark and gloomy things get in this world; be unruffled because your journey in life is one direction only: upward and forward. You’re not of this world! Your path is different. It’s a path of glory and excellence, prosperity and success, peace and joy."

    Prayer!!

My life is for the glory of God and I experience His goodness and mercies today; my life is of honour, excellence, praise, glory and thanksgiving to the Lord at all times. Hallelujah!

  7. Reflection for 12th of October, 2023. Thursday. Twenty-Seventh Week in Ordinary Time. Malachi 3:13---4:2a. Psalm 1:1-2,3,4. Luke 11:5-13.

At times, life can be complex and complicated. You see good people not making progress in life while those who perpetuate evil seem to be making progress. This was the situation of the people of Israel in the first reading today. Despite the effort of those who are good, they were going through poverty while evil doers not only prosper, but when they put God to the test, they get away with it. Hence, they concluded that serving God is not worth it.

Prophet Malachi assured them of the Lord's faithfulness and encouraged them to be patient, saying, "For behold, the day comes, burning like oxen, when all arrogant and evildoers will be stubble; the day that comes shall burn them up, says the Lord of hosts, so shall it leave them neither root nor branch. But for you who fear my name, the sun of righteousness shall rise, with healing in its wings" (Mal.4:2).

The Responsorial Psalm consoles and encourages those who trust God, saying, "Blessed the man who has placed his trust in the Lord." Today's Gospel expatiated more deeply God's faithfulness to all his promises. Jesus tells us that when we ask God for anything provided, it is for our good, and we are guided by the Holy Spirit in making such requests, God will grant them.

Whatever we are requesting from God, let us do it in faith in accordance with God's will, and we shall receive them. Our heavenly Father knows how to give good gifts to his children who ask him (cf.Luke 11:13).

May God grant us our heart desires according to his will through Christ our Lord. Amen. May God bring a peaceful resolution to the war in Palestine and different parts of the world at wars and bring about a new Nigeria where there will be progress and prosperity by giving our selfish leaders a sense of direction through Christ our Lord. Amen.

  8. Reno Omokri counsels PBAT and knocks you-know-who

My counsel to President Bola Tinubu is to ignore today's rant from Peter Obi. Someone who meticulously obeys IPOB's sit-at-home order has the audacity to pontificate about what embarrasses Nigeria? It is only in Nigeria that a man who was so ashamed of his university degree that he refused to tender it to the Independent National Electoral Commission will be foolhardy enough to cast aspersions on another man who was bold enough to declare his.

Six months ago, Peter Obi threatened to sue Peoples Gazette for publishing his leaked audio, where he promised to wage a religious war against the Muslim Ummah. He has still not sued. And rather than hide his face in shame, he is now pointing fingers.

A man who could not come clean on a phone call he had expressing hatred for Muslims is now asking Tinubu to come clean. Peter Obi should first confess to making that call and admit to planning a religious war on the Muslim Ummah.

The same Peter Obi went to Arewa House on Monday, October 17, 2022, and defended ESN, the armed wing of IPOB, while lying that it was the Governors of the Southeast who founded ESN, and so he could not condemn them, when in fact, ESN was established on December 13, 2020, by Nnamdi Kanu.

Indeed, Nigeria dodged a bullet with Peter Obi. If he had won, Nigeria's Muslims may have faced what Gaza's population is currently facing.

If Peter Obi, the Yes Daddy man, had won the 2023 election, Nigeria's Muslims may have faced what Gaza's population is currently facing. Someone who has not won yet was already plotting a "religious war", would have dealt with the Ummah as Netanyahu is now doing to Palestinians.

    Am I lying?

Peter Obi is just a pathetic desperado. So, because of false allegations that President Bola Tinubu did not attend Chicago State University, the world now views Nigerians as fraudsters? Really? So, when President Obama faced false allegations of not being born in America, the world looked at all Americans as fraudsters?

Bola Tinubu, a male, was admitted, attended and graduated from Chicago State University. I went there and verified it. It is true. Deal with it.

You made a false allegation and want to blame the person you lied against? Your proven Pandora corruption did not give Nigeria a bad name, but this does?

You will NEVER be President of Nigeria, Peter Obi!

  10. PATIENCE UNTO GOD

Having PATIENCE in the face of trial and temptation is a plus to your soul, many problems of this world have dragged so many Christians out of their God given pathway, many have given up on Godliness in a bid to get out of horrible situations out of impatience, child of God, have PATIENCE no matter what. James 1:4

Pressure and temptation is one of the tools devil uses to activate his hold on you, but when you resist it, he will flee james 1:12, the devil knows that at the end of his temptation when you prevail, you shall receive a reward, so he will try to fight you.

Establish your heart, to heavenly principles and concepts, when your heart is set on worldliness you might not be too patient with God, you will hunger for a sharp sharp or quick solution.
While you are waiting for answers and results let your heart be set in christ, for he cometh soon. James 5:8
In verse 10 of james 5 you are advised to take as an example the prophets who suffered and was patient too.

Endure, have PATIENCE, keep believing even if you are not seeing results.
Don't let your heart shake, God has promised to do it, he can never fail or go back on his words.

JESUS LOVES YOU, COME TO JESUS TODAY.

    Say this prayer of salvation

Dear lord jesus, I'm sorry for all my sins, please come into my life, i believe you died on the cross of calvary for me, and on the 3rd day you rose again, please come and be my lord and personal saviour. Please Wash away my sins and bring me into your loving light. Amen

  20. In Standard English, there's nothing like 'Burn the midnight CANDLE'.

    This is a long read.
    #StayWithME πŸ™
    ……….
I was conducting a Speaking Test in PH City, Rivers State Nigeria, last year

In answering a question I asked, 3 different examinees used this expression:

    "I'm burning the midnight candle."

NB: Examinee /ΙͺΙ‘zamΙͺˈniː/ means anyone who's taking an examination or test. He/She is also known as (ie, aka) a testee.

Burning the midnight candle is a grammar lie.

    And I'll tell you why.

By grammar lie, I mean any grammatical error in English which we (ESL users) routinely commit, oftentimes without even knowing that they are downright errors.

You know, ESL means English as a Second Language.

In Standard English, there's nothing like 'Burn the midnight CANDLE'.

    The standard expression is
    'Burn the midnight OIL'.

    Oil, not candle.

To burn the midnight OIL means to work late into the night.

If you burn the midnight OIL, it means that you're staying up very late in order to study or surf the internet or do some other work.

A related idiom that contains the word, candle, is:

Burn the candle at both ends.

ThisπŸ‘† means to work (online or offline), or surf the net, and do some odd jobs from early in the morning until late at night and so get very little rest.

NB: Odd jobs are small jobs of different types, especially those that involve repairing or cleaning things.

In other words, if you burn the candle at both ends, you try to do too many things in a day so that you have to stay up very late at night and get up very early in the morning to get those things done.

That is, you're working so hard that you do not get enough sleep because you go to bed late and get up early to continue working.

This is especially true of workaholics.

Burning the candle at both ends often leads to burnout, the feeling of always being tired because you have been working too hard.

Burnout is often referred to as a state of psychological, physical, and mental exhaustion.

It could lead to depression and death.

Two years ago, I suffered severe burnout in my workplace, Department of English Studies, UniPort.

The burnout weakened my immune system making me vulnerable to common ailments such as malaria, colds and typhoid.

I was constantly in and out of Military Hospital, Port Harcourt.

At a point, my doctor and friend looked at the series of tests I'd run and said in undisguised anger:

"Medication will be useless. I'm not giving you any prescription today.

Go home and rest or I'll place you on compulsory bedrest right here in this hospital!"

Imagine my doctor threatening ME (a whole ME!)
    *wide toothy smile πŸ˜€πŸ€£

I had to take a Leave of Absence from my workplace.

Severe burnout was one of the reasons I took the leave.

"And on the seventh day God finished His work which He had done, and He rested" (Genesis 2:2).

    What's the main point here?

The Almighty God WORKED and RESTED.

And taught us a powerful, enduring lesson that:

    Vickie should work.
She should also catch some rest.

Yes, Vickie should burn the midnight OIL.

However, she should take heed NOT to burn the CANDLE at both ends.

"And on the seventh day God finished His work which He had done, and He rested" (Genesis 2:2).

Am I preaching to someone today?
    ..........

    @everyone
    Hey family! ❤️✌🏾
    Got any value reading this?

I'll help you to master how to minimise your errors and go on to use English FLUENTLY and FEARLESSLY!

    I'm rooting for you! πŸ’ͺ

  21. WHAT BABIES KNOW

'Parents tell their children about your faithfulness.' Isaiah 38:19 NIV

A researcher at Johns Hopkins University informed us that children as young as eight months old are capable of hearing and remembering words, good or bad. 'Little ears are listening,' said Dr Peter Juscyzk. Babies in this study, which appeared in the esteemed journal, Science, were exposed to three taped stories for about ten days. Two weeks afterward, they were tested in a lab and clearly identified the words in the stories while failing to react to words they hadn't heard. Professor Emerita Robin Chapman, a language specialist at the University of Wisconsin at the time, emphasised the importance of this study. It demonstrates that very young children do pay attention to the sounds of language and are able to select those that are familiar. They may not fully understand them, but their brains are wired to record them and replay them later on.

So, taking the time to talk to tiny children not only teaches them language skills but sows seeds of truth that can bloom later in life. This shouldn't surprise us; mothers have known it intuitively for thousands of years. Words are formative; they are creative! The first words your child hears will be spoken by you. The first music your child listens to, will be chosen by you. Your child is a precious lump of clay, and you are the potter God has called to mould them.

In Scripture we read about vessels of 'honour' and vessels of 'dishonour' (2 Timothy 2:20 NKJV). As a parent, you help shape the kind of vessel they become. If you're wise, begin the godly moulding process as early as possible.

What does it mean for a mad man to touch someone?
Yesterday I was at the junction of my street looking for an available bike only for me to turn by someone's touch. Lo and behold it was a mad man 😭, a naked one at that. He uttered a word inaudibly nut from his gestures I understand he meant he needed something to eat.

Immediately, I moved to other side just so he could pass.
Does it have a spiritual meaning? Although I could have given him money or get something for him (I don't mind) but with the things are going these days. Hian!!!

    1. Must everything have a spiritual undertone for you people? You acknowledged he is mad man. After all, no man in their right senses would have touched someone else in this era of organ disappearance. What you should be doing now is to thank God he wasn't violent or amorous instead of nursing imaginary fears.

This one that they are kidnapping and killing farmers in some parts of the country where farming is their mainstay like Benue state and some other states, the high cost of foodstuff, are recipes for hunger.
    The government needs to rise.
