    1. That's what I'm saying.. the money cant do anything meaningful..

    2. How meaningful are your taxes that you who is self employed are looking for a meaningful contribution from a poor country from which you have benefited heavily so far in terms of education, heavily subsidized public health care, zero to low taxation, subsidized transport network, semi- subsidized fuel, roads, subsidized electricity, etc? A country with virtually nothing left in reserves heavily in debt and broke for the past like 15 to 20years
This not SDK giveaways. It's for terribly poor Nigerian families that earn less than 20 k a month and their bank transactions, mobile phone expenditure other digital footprints show it.

Remove your eyes from poor people's money and face front please.

There are families in Nigeria where both breadwinners earn less than 20 to 25 k per month and feed four children with it in addition to catering for an aged relative or two. You abandoned them at home because the cleric robbing you blind in a city slum said they are demonic. Please let them breathe with this 25k.

The countries you quote either didn't have any such benefits for their citizens till quite recently eg the US did not subsidize the bulk of Irish, japanese, Jewish, immigrants and the war on poverty was started by LBJ after MLK and JFK had been assassinated. The British empire had the resources of the over 40 nations of the commonwealth in addition to taxing their citizens heavily before giving certain benefits.

      Nigerians, be reasonable!!!

    1. It will only postpone hunger for most people
Poverty mentality that can consume billions is it 25 that is a challenge?

  4. An average Nigerian like me needs this money to cushion the effect of general rise in prices. If you work and earn VERY well, own a profitable business, extra money for luxuries, I don't think you need the 25k. My opinion though.

  5. This Nigeria of today, almost everyone needs that money, whether you have car, job or anything, the money would still be needed for something, if it's not food, what about fuel, transport, medications etc etc..

But, that is not what Nigerians are asking of, take your stupid 25k and stick into your a5s, what we want is a better country where things are easier for the masses, see prices of food, see school fees, see dollars, see fuel... But you are buying new expensive cars for legislators and saying Nigeria is broke, then Reno and Ben bruse who was owing AMCOn 11billion naira as far back 2016 talking about patronising below standard Glo network, watch TV stations like nta, tvc and partners that are controlled by these same evil people and not showing the real state of things, etc etc and then try to blame us for the state of things in the country, Asin the insult and audacity.. the same people that are among the cause of Nigeria problem.. is their families here? Are they resident here?

They should give the 25k to their children.. foolish idiots

    2. For once, I agree with you. Nigerians don't need handouts , but those in authority should create an enabling environment for citizens to thrive. Provide infrastructures and security ,and watch the citizen take off from there. Enough of this tokenism

That will require Deep thinking, actual concern for citizens and genuine planning

  6. Honestly speaking, this is just waste of money, waste of resources and waste of anything you can even think of.

#25,000 to use for what? And its monthly?

You will drive up inflation, even thou things are already expensive.

What will that money even buy or feed?

Over 1 trillion naira will be distributed, but I can tell you. ITS A WASTE OF MONEY.

TRADER MONIE TILL TODAY, no fruitfulness, people are still hungry and economy is still down the drain..

You dont share money like this. Look for other means to inject this money into the economy in all 36 states.

What are those things that drive up inflation? Tackle those things

    Food
    Transport
    School fees (public)

Those are where you should focus on. Drive the food inflation back to 10% or 5%.

Dont share money, it wont work. It has been done before. It wont wotk.

Large amount of it will be embezzled too..

    It wont work

    1. 50 what? They won't even disburse up to 20%, the presidency may truly push the money out, but the lions and snakes are already waiting to swallow more than 80 percent of the money

  10. Are you sure that this is not another avenue to embezzle public funds?? I prefer reduction in the price of foodstuffs, fuel, and creation of job for the youths.

  15. I believe Nigeria will be great again and our sufferings shall make us stronger and wiser. No wonder, when you find Nigerians even in the diaspora, they can adapt to any living condition because of the sufferings most of them have learnt to endure.its well.

  16. I doubt Nigerian government have economic advisers. Why not use the whole money to resolve the problems in one sector. Even the so called palliative, people are saying they got only 4cups of rice, some said they paid for registration to be picked for the palliative. The money should be used to provide something tangible that will last and people will feel the impact rather than sharing it to the masses which they're not sure will get to them.

  17. Do you even need a form for all these Wahala, naija is something else everything protocols so someone will now fill a form indicating that they need 25k, tufiakwa that was how workers from the north had accident because they are coming to abuja to update IRR Wahala, can't they fill it online why is everything a herculean task in this country, during covid 19 Brazilian govt was giving everybody that has an account in the bank monthly stipend whether you re a Brazilian or foreigner.
Finally they will divert the funds

  18. This is remarkable. I have nothing negative to state. Poverty is an isolating experience and just this gesture alone will help those who are suffering to feel reconnected to life and many will get a hope for living and even dream that a good future is possible.

May it be the start of a change that really reshape the nation. Kudos to all involved.

  19. I need the money o, at least it will buy half bag of rice.
I just hope it is not audio, may God help us in this country.

  20. I punched my calculator and it's N1.250trn the government is about to throw away. Is it going to be over a year or more, will be instant? Whichever it is, it's a big waste. Why can't we channel these monies into economic activities? Even when given, one month all don finish.

  21. You see all these professors of economist, analyst, policy makers, and investment experts Nigeria don't really consult them for their opinions .An illiterate knows better than them

  22. How about this? Use that money to provide consistent electricity, water and security for the citizens. Nigerians are industrious people - they thrive in other countries with infrastructure and that will be very beneficial in our country.

    1. This money is for the poorest of the poorest of citizens. These are ppl on the edge of survival, right on the precipice. These ppl do not care about roads or electricity. They need money for medicine, food, a pot to cook in, laundry soap, basic hygiene items, maybe a water tank, new underwear.

We could all sit and say there would be more useful use for the money. But for the extreme poor what would they say? They don’t have data or cellphones to come in here and share their opinions of this gesture, it’s those who are not grovelling in the gutters of survival who all have something to say. This is not their story to speak on. Let these ppl who have not seen a good meal in years get a leg up for a change. Nobody should begrudge them this very little.
