I am a father of three daughters and they mean the world to me. I always pray that I do not have to become dependent on them. And I hope that none of these my lovely daughters will ever have course to publicly humiliate me. Parental respect is sacrosanct and God ordered.

An adult who is giving his own 9 children whom he actively and purposely conceived and gave birth to in Nigeria without keeping assets worth like 5 billion somewhere if not for them, for him, should talk to himself truthfully. How can a father who did not take your WAEC as a priority be looking for how to report you to gistlover because you didn't send him money that you haven't made in quite a while?
DeleteParental responsibility is first sacrosanct. Let parents be parents first biko, some of these parents are just shameless lazy and annoyingly entitled.
DeleteAmen on your behalf. I really doubt that such outbursts come from parents merely asking for money or help. Mostly, it comes from pain in the person's childhood due to parental absence or abandonment or marital strife between couples that traumatized the child. Anyone taken care of will definitely take care of the parents and if they don't have, they will say so nicely.
DeleteAnother point is that world-wide, things are hard and economic turmoil is making many people not give as they wish to their parents. A lot of people will have to choose themselves or their new families (spouse and kids) over their parents. With many Nigerians not having retirement plans or pension, it will be sad but such outbursts may continue.
Some parent self can over do and they will still use parent curse to threaten their kids.

For every popular name who has such a story trend, there are thousands of hives going through the same thing with the children saying thanks and goodbye. You don't have a monopoly of wickedness or irresponsibility.

ReplyDeleteSome parents are very selfish, they solely depend on their kids even when they aren't physically challenged or aged.
Why am I saying this, cos of my friend that's is squatting with me pending when things are okay for her before she gets her own place. We live in my family house, meaning shelter, clothing and other bills aren't our responsibility. This my friend's mother calls her for every thing at her family house, literally my friend provides for them, how much is her monthly salary.........This my friend cries sometimes cos of the way my own parents shows her love and support her, she will be like, her mum will never ask her what she does for a living or where she lives or how she's fending for herself. She breaks down at times.
Please parents please try to be there for your kids. My parents aren't Dangote but they gave me the best in life in every endeavour of my life. I count myself lucky and blessed everyday for the type of parents I've got. Thank you God.
Cynthia no matter what, don't call your dad out on social media. You could have as well gone to your house to explain to your papa, how your situation is at the moment for you. Family over everything. One love.
