CHRONICLE OF A MARRIED MAN

I know some people that don't read their text messages except when they are expecting a credit alert.

We should cultivate the habit of reading our text messages. You don't know the day they will send you an urgent message that can save a life. I have seen life happenings so much that I stopped ignoring "little" things like that. Most times, they are from network providers but it's still fine to read them.

On this fateful Sunday evening last month, I was watching TV when my phone beeped, a message had entered. My phone was charging at a corner but I asked my daughter to bring it. I checked it and saw a debit alert of 2720. I was still struggling to process the reason for the debit when another message entered, another debit of 2880. This came in less than 5 minutes after the first one.

My brain immediately started working well, I quickly transferred the remaining money into another of my account in another bank. That was how my remaining money was saved.

The next day, I went to the bank and saw plenty other customers with the same complaint, some had their accounts wiped clean. The bank told me that the thieves were hackers who must have hacked into their (the bank's) system. Ok, return my money since it's from your end, I didn't get #1 back till today.
I let it slide because of the amount.

Imagine a situation whereby I didn't read my text messages immediately, I would be in pains when I discover the alerts hours or minutes later.

Let's do better with our phones pls.

  1. I encourage everyone around me to read sms messages even if from network provides as soon as you're notified then delete. One can't know when emergency situations or life saving texts come in because the sender might not be disposed to make a voice call. Unfortunately, the women around me feel 'lazy' doing this and complain of too many sms messages from network providers.

  5. The best account to save your money in is kiddies account. Open a kiddies account in your bank and save there, they don't deduct from it, instead they dash you small small change like #5, #9. Most importantly, scammers don't get to hack it because you don't get atm card for it, you can't transfer from it, etc. You enter the banking Hall to withdraw from it.
The above applies in my banks kiddies accounts, I have in two different banks.
