ReplyDeleteThis brings back memories of when I lived in Iwaya, very close to the last bus stop for people who know that place well, I wanted to run mad that entire year, 2015.

I packed in one afternoon, arranged my things well, slept early because I was so tired.
Around that kind after 4am next morning, it was like one giant speaker was placed near my ear, I just heard...aaaaashaduallaaaa illlaaaa....ehn ni bo???😲
I jacked up from bed, did long jump to my door in confusion. 🤦♀️
It was that night gan gan I discovered that there was a MOSQUE directly behind my house on the next street with loud speaker. 👀
And EVERY DAY, normal normal they do call to prayer.
Wednesday said chill, you never see anything. ....😄😄😄
That was the day I realised that there were TWO different small but mighty churches abi parishes on my street. One in the middle of my street and the other at the extreme end. TWO!!! Those ones I think they put their speakers inside drum because fam, my window go dey vibrate when they start their own???
On the way back one night I found out there was also one small bar on that same street.
And one small akara bu breadi primary school with their strange strange early morning assembly songs 3 buildings away.
Is it NOISE???
My people you never hear NOISE.
One night I was extremely fatigued, struggling to sleep and someone somewhere was playing gbedu till 2am on that same small crooked street as if na competition on who go deaf by force.
I had had it up to here. I was sleep deprived Exhausted. My head was hot. I was always tired and irritated. I just broke down and wept o,😭😭😭😭 even hellfire can not be noisy like that street na. Before my one year rent elapsed, I had already packed my ngwon ngwon on my head and fled from there.
Ah any place I want to rent, I will go back in the afternoon, go in the evening. If it's possible to still go dead of the night like a thief, I wii go. Waka house by house dey inspect if na disco abi stadium them they use am rent. I never reach half of the gist o, wetin my eye see ehn, I no fit talk am.👀😭😁
