    1. What exactly has beauty got to do with acting? Professional acting has a role for everyone so I really don't understand the mentality of the people telling her that rubbish.

  8. The most lauded actresses with enduring careers are not usually the most beautiful. I remember Meryl Streep telling a similar story, Viola Davis too. You gotta believe in yourself cause many ppl in the world will not believe in you.

    1. You are indirectly reinforcing the believe that she is ugly by your comment

    2. No , I beg to defer, she is just reinforcing her situation with other people experience. Believe in your dream and keep it close to your heart because people out there are ready to stop you if you let them.

    3. When your looks are not on the front burner, what's left is your craft which unlike looks, can actually improve with time. As time goes on, it's that professionalism and versatility that cremes to the surface and leaves you at the zenith of your craft.

  9. The way we disdain our fellow humans like we could mould an ant. We forget that there's just a very thin line between life and death. Well God is not human, that I know for sure.

  10. And look at how far she has gone now, God is not human.

  12. But most of you on this comment section praise features that eurocentric and shame afrocentric feature and you expect a movie producer to take a risk and feature what will not sell he/her they are only informing her what looks the general public want to see which unfortunately funke akindele does not fit into.

    1. She wasn't rejected for her skin tone but the same afrocentric features. Let's not take this thing far.

She responded to rejection by doubling down, recommitting to her craft, increasing her training, writing her own stories and then producing her own movies that showcased her as an a list actress who could hold her own with seasoned professionals in their industries.

Years ago, Femi Adebayo was only known for playing suffer head and village roles or as a brother to Muyiwa Ademola even after his breakthrough role in Owo blow. Odunade Ademola was too lanky and not fine enough for lover boy roles. Only God knows what would have been said to Bukunmi Oluwashina and Later Adedimeji based on their looks when they started till they also started to produce. Kenny George and Olaide Oyedeji, same story.

The lesson is to have your own stall or direct link to your target audience instead of relying on a marketer selling to body hunters.

    2. Most of them suffer from colonial mentality, that is why one abroad based BV had the penchant for talking down on other BVs because she and other low self esteem BVs believe that once you are abroad, you have arrived.

    3. I agree with you @Anon16:16.
Some of them are suffering from inferiority complex and their condescending tones are usually nothing to write home about.

    4. Or they will be looking for who to flex on as per 'let me toss some coins at your feet to make my ego feel good.' C"mon get lost, useless worthless mofo.

    5. Anon 16:16, many diasporas act like they are still in “gutter” selling lace, did you not watch the “£420 Aso Ebi London mama” cursing attendees who did not buy her overpriced business proposal? Many here are not half as educated as tons of people I know living in Nigeria. Changing geographical location doesn’t suddenly make you educated. Check the list of fake nurses released by TX, they are mostly Naija names. If Stella will allow it I will cut & paste it. Who fakes a nursing qualification? Eleanor Roosevelt said “nobody can make you feel inferior without your consent”, don’t give your consent✌🏾

  17. But notwithstanding the comments of naysayers, you came off triumphant. You have always been focused, upping the ante, and very hardworking. You are one on the only 3 actors.i follow on Instagram.
If looks were all it took to be a known face, then you shouldn't have succeeded. From your days in 'I need to know' series. My fellow Akokite, you make us proud. Where are the beautiful faces that used to grace our screens then, who were your contemporaries, but here you are, Funky baby, breaking records back to back.
