ReplyDeleteSome people make poor choices & are truly lazy. Some work very hard but need God to give them favor. I have a sibling who after doing poorly in school cert multiple times got into uni via “long leg” but still went there to follow boy and dropped out, managed to get a diploma from a poly and was begged even with extra monetary inducement to become chartered to have an independent future but refused she had a free boutique opened by her sibling with clothes from abroad she paid zero for but blew it within a year. Thirty years later she hates her financier as that one is older and cannot fund her like in the past. She says her helper was just lucky when the person was focused with no boyfriend till 3 years after graduating uni. so she can help the needy family.
ReplyDeleteI disagree that this saying is universally true. It’s the excuse some lazy people use to justify hating others who did not make their poor choices. Yes there is favor of God and grace of God in everything but you have to get in agreement with God. Jeremiah 29:11 says his thoughts to ALL of us are good, to give us a future and prosper us. Stealing govt money is not work or favor of God as judgement will still come but there are some truly lazy entitled people looking for excuses to justify the hatred of hard working relatives. Life is a series of cumulative decisions made over time hence siblings with exact opportunities may not use it the same way. I will only make exception for many who lack opportunities due to looters in government who have stolen what is meant for development and job creation. At the micro level, you can’t party all through uni & claim not to be lucky. Many African proverbs lack universal application.
