Now Ariana, 30, and Dalton, 28, have officially decided on separation in simultaneous filings.
The pop singer's lawyer, Laura Wasser, filed first on Monday citing "irreconcilable differences" as the reason for divorce.
The real estate agent filed immediately after, in what appears to be a coordinated decision.
An inside source revealed to TMZ that "everything was worked out" before the ex-couple had to take the divorce to court.
The informant added that "Ariana will cut Dalton a check" and that will be the end of their marriage.
Ariana and Dalton had signed a prenup before they tied the knot in May 2021.
