Rwandan President Paul Kagame Declares To Run For A 4th Time

65 year old Rwandan President, Paul Kagame has declared his intention to run for a fourth term in the elections coming up next year.

Kagame, prior to this time did make his intentions clear, but presided over controversial constitutional amendments in 2015 that allowed him to run for more terms and stay in power until 2034.

He became president in April 2000 and returned to office with more than 90 percent of the vote in elections in 2003, 2010 and 2017.

  1. This is wrong. This is where African leaders should exert their energy not by saying military coup will not be tolerated..

Meet these wicked, stubborn leaders who have refused to leave the scene. Tell them " let your people go". Since 2000 haba! At least remember the antecedents of the country in 1994.

  9. Exit the stage when the ovation is loudest. Eni kan o ke je ki ilu fe. This is what ruins many visionary African heads of state. Megalomania of "only I can do it" and micromanaging complex.

  11. Those praising Kagame now see he is not different. The seething hatred between Hutus & Tutsis is still there and he wants a 4th term. They need to study the brains of African leaders when they die! They have a serious problem! I never trusted him and when some friends were talking of buying property in Rwanda I wasn’t interested & kept warning that they should watch a smooth transition of power before concluding on Rwanda! The war was so brutal my church in the south had tens of Burundians & Rwanda refugees many of who told takes of walking 25 miles to safety. This was over 20 years ago! Kagame is on the wrong path.
