My colleague manage to buy land in Epe how many years ago, only for Lagos state to say the land belong to them because the land close to where the refinery is. I feel sad for her as they have already started building. Money that she would have use to flex all gone.

ReplyDeleteWhy would anyone buy a land and leave it for a long time without building? At least if you don't wanna build at the time, use it for farming or lease it for farming purpose.

What if you buy and travel out of the state or the money to develope the land isn't yet available . If you ask people to farm on your land they work against you with it
Deletestop rushing to type...there is always a time stated to develop land. most of these lands have stayed for upward of 20 years and above. some of these people have plenty properties all over the place and some of these lands are evenn green areas in abuja that where converted. develop them or let the land be put to proper use
DeleteTJ it is not every land u can use for farming especially in Abuja that has town planning laws. For instance, you buy land in kayampe or guzape, nobody would let you turn it to farm except it is in the outskirts like Kuje.
DeleteAnd no, there is a stipulated period within which u have to develop the land. For instance, in an estate i just bought a land, in the contract agreement, it says that i have to develop the land within 2 yrs of acquiring it, else, they might repossess it. Most times the period is clearly stated in the contract agreement that was signed, sealed and delivered but trust many Nigerians not to read, or some would read and decide to break the law then cry fowl when the law is enforced.
Most of those undeveloped lands and uncompleted buildings turn to where hoodlums do their criminal activities, they also disfigure the plan of the area. These among other reasons are why the govt insists that lands should be promptly developed after purchase.
