Lawmaker Threatens To Sue BBNaija All Stars Housemate Venita For Defaming Tiv Men..

Na wah!!!

The member representing Makurdi/Guma Federal Constituency of Benue State in the House of Representatives, Hon. Dickson Tarkighir has threatened to slam a N10 billion lawsuit against Big Brother Naija All Stars housemate, Venita Akpofure and the organisers of the reality show for “defaming” the Tiv Nation.

Venita has been under fire after she asserted in the reality show that “Tiv men give their wives to visitors for entertainment purposes.”
Her assertion sparked outrage among the Tiv people of North Central, Nigeria, with many calling for legal action against her.

Consequently, Hon. Tarkighir has said Venita and the Big Brother Naija brand should be sued for giving her “the mega platform to defame the Tiv tribe.”

On his Facebook page, he wrote: “#Venita Akpofure- Slam a 10BN defamation suit on her, the Big Brother brand and its promoters, they provided her with the mega platform to defame an entire tribe and are equally liable for not disowning her.”
Venita has two daughters with Terna Tarka, a Tiv man from Benue State.

    2. From what was heard, she didn't enjoy her marriage. This could have made her biased towards Tiv. But what she said is what we have always heard about Tiv, not knowing if it is true or not. I think in these modern days things are changing from some ancient customs.

    1. Venita was right bcoz that’s exactly what they used to do, except they’ve stopped it , due to enlightenment. No case abeg. Could Venita’s ex husband, late J.S Tarka’s son? “If u Tarka me , I Dabo u” fame. Maverick & flamboyant politician .

    2. You who is saying that's exactly what they used to do, where is your reference? Where is the historical proof? You are just busy asserting something that you don't know for a fact. Try to get some of the enlightenment that you referred to.

    1. I wonder why people are insane to publish what they don't know.i was born 30yrs ago and I never heard that in my life , it was last year in kogi someone was asking me such a question to confirm if it's true.iwas surprised to hear that at first. Today that prostitude go ahead to say such on tv. If I may ask can this fool bring out a concrete evidence to backup her defamatory claims?

  4. It's s actually a horrible thing to say about an entire tribe. stereotype shouldn't be in existence with socialization and modernization.

If your ex husband was given you Venita out for entertainment, doesn't mean every Tiv man does?

Or should I say "All Men from Delta State are irresponsible" because our neighbour who is from Delta state beats his wife and is irresponsible? No!
Common Venita, your daughters are Tiv girls, don't allow the resentment you got for your ex Tiv husband becloud your judgement.

  5. For her to know so well, she must have been used to entertain her ex husband's friends if it's actually true. I'm from Benue state and people keep asking this question about tiv men using their wives as tool for entertainment and I find it very demeaning. I think it is about time the Tiv nation addressed this issue once and for all.

    1. It can never be true. Men are naturally jealous and protective of their women. When you think about it how does it sound to you. This rumour must have originated out of some malicious people. I am Tiv..and what I suspect is.. a Tiv woman must have seduced her husbands friend that came visiting and the friend in turn went to announce that his friend gave his wife as entertainment. Typical Tiv people in villages are really hospitable.. so a promiscuous woman must have given herself freely after entaintaning visitors with food and drinks..

    2. Anon 12 45, beautiful perspective.

      Delete
    3. Another perspective could be that a stranger who visited Tiv land, may have been so impressed by the Hospitality of His Tiv friend that He jokingly said, they could even give you their wives. And then some people took it as the gospel truth.

  6. Venita talks too much, now she don misyarn, how can she even say such thing on national TV? They should wait for her to come out of biggie's house, give her opportunity to apologize as per say she be their former wife, if she doesn't, then she can be sued. Wetin konsain Biggie with wetin Venita talk na?

  7. On this matter, my take is: even if anyone were to say such about the Tiv tribe, it should not be Venita who not only married a Tiv man but has two children with him. That is also dissing her kids' tribe.

I know we ask people to be as real as possible but sometimes I still wonder if these people remember that they are on live TV at all. Where does real end and gross begin? Where exactly do you draw the line to avoid this kind of wahala? If you couldn't say something nice about the tribe why not refrain from saying anything at all? Suitors would come for your girls someday and is this the narrative you'd like them to have about their tribe?

Venita did not start the narrative. I don hear am many many times that I've lost count sef. I personally know someone whose parents did not allow marry a Benue guy because they said they didn't want any man to use their daughter as kolanut for his friends. On YouTube, there are many videos on the matter years and months before this All Stars edition. One guy even shot a movie on the matter? Many Tiv people in the comment sections share how they've been insulted and ridiculed on the matter at different places. So, no be Venita start am.

Venita should tender an unreserved apology to the Tiv tribe and her "eternal" inlaws. There is nothing like former inlaws when children are involved because you are linked with them for life. I also hope they accept her apology and forgive her while setting the records straight about that particular narrative. Please forgive her for the sake of your Tiv children that she carried in her womb biko. Una don win already.

As for lawsuit, make una no go dat route because una no go win. She will say she said "Tivi" and not "Tiv". In the video, she said "Tivi" and even Adekunle asked her "Tivi or Tiv?" She repeated Tivi. Igbo and Igbogbo, Yoruba and Yorubaba, Amaka and Amamaka no be the same thing for law court o.

Na apology sure pass abeg and make una invite am come do documentary on the matter for Tiv land to forever de.ad that ugl¥ narrative. Many people would watch and that would send the right message to the entire world. Make una use this opportunity to una advantage. Life na brain-brain. No be everything war and lawsuit dey solve o.

    2. Venita knows she was lying.
Tiv men are very possessive of their wives.

However, they're highly promiscuous, the young girls have sexual partners at formative years and get ravaged by all sorts of diseases before they exit teenagehood.
      It's a sad statistics.

In all sincerity, Venita is not the type that can stay married to our black brothers. She is way too assertive for all the "you must be submissive" geng. Neo say na badmouth cause am but biko bring correct gist o. Ilebaye even promised Biggie she has tea to spill on Venita in the diary room today if she survives eviction. I am here for all of it. That's why my name is Amebo.

As someone that was once married to a Tiv man, could it be that she's saying what she'd seen abi what she heard. Nevertheless, this shouldn't be said on a national TV na and her beautiful daughters are Tiv.
