Lags state Gov. Babajide Sanwo-Olu made this known when he visited Akin-Bright and his mother, Mrs Deborah Abiodun, at the Pediatric Ward of LASUTH.
NAN reported that Abiodun, in a “Save Our Souls” (SoS) via social media, appealed to the Governor to probe the mysterious disappearance of her son’s intestine.
She claimed the incident occurred while her son was receiving treatment.
LASUTH management had in swift response to the allegations, affirmed that they did not wilfully remove any organ or structure from Akin-Bright’s body while performing a corrective surgery on him.
The victim had been previously operated on at a private hospital in Lagos.
He had been undergoing treatment at LASUTH for over a month.
”He (Akin-Bright) required extensive optimisation in our facility before a corrective surgery could be carried out. The surgery, which was carried out by an experienced pediatric surgeon and her team, revealed certain strange findings.
”There is a video clip of these findings. The mother was informed about these findings but she appeared to be in denial,” LASUTH management said.
The Governor after listening to both the mother of the child and the doctor in charge of his care said what was paramount was to ensure that the life of the boy was saved.
Responding, Akin-Bright’s mother expressed appreciation to Sanwo-Olu for the visit and for taking up the medical care of the promising young boy. (NAN)

With what is happening in this country, I trust nobody.
ReplyDeleteThanks to the Lagos gov taking up the case. The boy's surgery was botched. Those involved have to be apprehended to avoid it happening again. He may likely have to be treated abroad with a transplant. May God come through for him and his family. Very heartbreaking story.
DeleteIntestine disappeared?
ReplyDeleteNothing is impossible in Nigerian hospitals.
This kind news dey upset me. I hope thorough investigation is carried out to know the evil doer
ReplyDeleteThis news made me really sad. How does an intestine disappear?
ReplyDeleteA crime has been committed and should be investigated!!
When will we ever get it right in this country, when?
People will do anything for money, where una lock una conscience put?
Sluttychic.
Do you have any proof of a cringe bring committed? Has any investigation led to this conclusion? How many cm of which intestine ? Both mother and governor are not medics and would be unable to clinically prove that any intestine is missing. Enough of sensationalism. The clinical staff and hospital also have a reputation to protect.
DeleteIt's disheartening to hear about the case of this young boy who reportedly lost his small intestine during surgery intended to remove or flush out his appendix. Nevertheless, it is reassuring to know that his chances of survival and leading a relatively normal life without a small intestine are relatively high.
ReplyDeleteThis incident serves as a reminder of a few important lessons:
1. Always remain vigilant and avoid distractions when giving or receiving medical treatment, especially in Nigerian hospitals.
2. Be conscious of your dietary choices.
@ your first lesson, hope you know no medical doctor will allow a non medical personnel be present while surgery is ongoing? Na God hand person just dey for this country.
DeleteInstetines disappeared during surgery? God have mercy!
ReplyDeleteInstead of the governor to investigate and prosecute those that stole the young boy’s organ, he’s taking up his medical fees. Yeye governor, ritualistic governor. Same thing he did with the ikorodu girl that was murdered and her organs harvested. The worst governor Lagos state has ever had.
ReplyDeleteHow is the governor of your own state of origin doing? Where have you chosen to live?
DeleteSo who will be held accountable? Something as major as this cannot happen and it is forgotten. How do you just lose your intestine? Mtsscchhwww
ReplyDeleteThe culprits should be brought to book. Where did the boy's intestine disappear to?
