Crooner Naira Marley Issues Press Statement On The Death Of Colleague Mohbad

Nigerian singer and rapper, Naira Marley, has spoken for the first time since Mohbad died on Tuesday.
Mohbad passed away under controversial circumstances and was buried on Wednesday in Ikorodu, Lagos State.
In a statement posted on his Instagram on Friday, Naira Marley said he is “heartbroken” by Mohbad’s death, adding that he will “be truly missed”.

The Marlian Record label boss admitted that although they had “disagreements, no harm whatsoever was wished on Mohbad”.
“With heavy hearts we mourn the loss of an exceptional talent. Someone who was more than an artist or signee but a brother and dear friend Promise” Mohbad” Oladimeji Aloba.
“We send our deepest condolences to the family and loved ones, we are all heartbroken by his tragic loss and will be truly missed.

“From inception we recognized Mohbad was a force to be reckoned with. His music gave so many people love and light.
“Mohbad touched us all with his heartfelt lyrics, story telling, infectious smile and energy. The news of his passing has left us with a permanent hole in our hearts.

“Mohbad is an incredible street pop star who contributed to the foundation of the Marlian Music. Despite his departure last year we continually championed his talent.
“No family is perfect, families have disagreements but no harm whatsoever was wished on Mohbad. So many things left unsaid but the love was always there. This tragedy is not only a loss for us but to everyone you touched musically around the world.
“As we share our condolences to the late Mohbad, we would like to echo a call for a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding his death. We’re unhappy and unsettled with everything we have witnessed since Tuesday the 12th Sept. We owe it to Mohbad to assist with uncovering any foul play or injustice. Our brother deserved a better send off, it saddens us that we couldn’t assist with providing a befitting burial. We will continue our efforts to reach out to the family.

“We urge our colleagues in the media to treat this matter with the utmost sensitivity, respect and care. We publicly appeal to the authorities to do due diligence and we will work closely to support those handling the matter. Finally urge the online community to refrain from circulating damaging accusations that could compromise the investigation.”

    1. I can't get the heartbreaking videos I watched on Instagram off my head. His innocent look and calmness after each assault, kai. This guy's death broke me the way Dagrins death did. I hope the police carry out deligent investigation and bring the perpetrators to book. They should know that the general public is watching and hoping on them

  3. Mtsheeew.......... I hate the fact that you're still not in police custody. Imagine that Sam Larry claiming those snippets we saw online were since last year and he loves Mohbad so very much. Somebody that should have been detained and be going through interrogations.

How did they want him to survive through that harsh life?? Trailing him everywhere he went, beating him up at any given chance and backbiting him when they seeks his information from your label. Of course you contributed to his death and should be hold responsible for it.

They all contributed to his death and it will never be well with them.
If he likes, he can run to Iran, he will not escape what’s coming.
See how they bullied that guy, I’m sad. His death hit me terribly.

    3. It's the audacity and auda-country for me😡. Like those two really think there is anything tbey can say or do to ever make this right? Let them keep living in their gangsters' paradise. They have murdered sleep and will sleep no more. Even their confra don disown dem publicly and if the police don't handle this right, they better get ready for the real gangs of Lagos movie. Na military go settle this matter laslas.

  4. Death is so final. And it present no opportunity to resolve any issues with the departed, just leaves a glaring hole where hope once was. Let us settle our disagreements while life is still with us.

  10. When he finally started getting small recognition on his own after so many attempt by those people to frustrate him in the industry so he won't be visible. The guy fought his way to still remain relevant. He was getting there and boom they switched off his light. All his struggles now was for nothing.
Whether na dem finally kill am or not the fact that they watched him suffer and pushed the guy to depression before he finally died is so painful.
That guy died inside first before it manifested physically. Always looking sad and lost.

    Omo I hate oppression.

  11. Naira if you don't get your judgement here on Earth for what you did, your generation must get it one way or the other.
You won't escape the wrath of God for causing that boy's death, you made him go through so much that he became hypertensive at just 27.
Ah Naira, the ground you walk upon shall judge you.

So, dat Larry sabi oppress another person pikin but quickly deactivate him own IG to protect his own children. Issokay. Una see why una must shine eye before una marry werey because of money and greed. Nigerians don use swear arrange blueprint for their children future. Na so generational curs€ take dey start wey children go use head carry wetin dem no know.

  12. This is the statement you should have put out and abided by instead of sending drugged up criminals to beat this guy, harassing him about the place.

The authorities should look into this matter. The Adedibus and Chris Ubas of entertainment need to be tamed.

  15. This animal is going down, nobody, nothing can save him. His cup is full. You guys have no idea the type of atrocities this guy and his goons have committed. This music crap is a cover for what they are doing - robbery, gang rape, political thuggery, murders, initiating young and unsuspecting teenagers into cultism, drug and trafficking, name any antihuman activity, he's present. What and who will arrange him, is closer than he thinks.

  16. So according to GL, naira marley allegedly paid Ndlea to burst Mohbad and while he was being held, he was given water with substance in it.hmmmmmm
Mohbad’s remains should be exhumed for proper investigation.
His death will not be swept under the rug, enough is enough.
As for his father, I believe he is hiding something. Please do not fail your son like this.
Anyone that's ever been signed to marley’s record label that has had same or worse experiences should speak up now.
