Crooner Naira Marley Breaks Silence On Allegations Linking Him To Mohbad's Death

Crooner and owner of Marlian Record label, Naira Marley, released a statement on Instagram and stated that he is making arrangements to return to Nigeria to honour police invitation in the ongoing investigation into the death of colleague Mohbad who died in a controversial manner on September 12, 2023.
Naira Marley, who owns Marlian music and his associate, Sam Larry are accused of having a hand in Mohbad’s sudden death after events allegedly linked them to his demise...

He said, “In the last few days, there has been a lot of onslaught on my person and reputation globally over the death of my former signee. All manner of stories has been woven against me in respect of his untimely death. I have not only been in shock over the death of the deceased whom I considered to be my brother and member of our music family, but over the various lies spread and threats against me.
“Before I progress further, let me say that as it is traumatic for a lot of people to bear the reality of lleri’s death, so it is to me. May his gentle soul continue to rest in peace and may God grant his family the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.
”Permit me to categorically state that I have no hand in the death of llerioluwa, either directly or indirectly. It is not unusual in the industry, just like in several other industries to have family friction, even amongst blood relatives.
“Truly, we had our own share of misunderstandings whilst working together, but the disagreement between us was never to the extent being painted by some hirelings. It never degenerated to the extent of wishing each other death. Even at that, we were resolving our business disputes legally before he had passed.

“I have chosen not to say anything since due to being distraught over his death and in order not to jeopardize the investigation being carried out by the government agencies.

“In addition, I have been out of the country since the 31st of August, 2023 and I’m yet to return. In light of the police invitation, I am making arrangements to return to the country to assist the investigation and give my version of the events. I am fully cooperating with the Police team and I certainly have no reason to be a fugitive when I have no hand in his death.

”I am certain that the culprit behind his death and has a vendetta against me and are fueling public opinions to have me lynched for reasons known to them. In due time the circumstances surrounding Mohbad’s death will be unveiled and the world will know the truth. This kind of scenario of attempting to set someone up is not novel in the industry as other great musicians have experienced the same and came out better and stronger. Mine will not be an exception as I am innocent of the accusations.

”Mohbad left the label in September 2022, the label accepted his departure. Marlian Music did not stop or interfere with his career or releases since and he has been with oneRPM. Legal efforts were made to reconcile his concerns regarding the work we had done together.

”The rumors regarding the label being a drug cartel are untrue. I am not a drug lord, neither do I Marley belong to any cult or fraternity. I’m
dedicated to proving my innocence and I’m cooperating with the authorities to clear my name with sufficient evidence.

”Marlian Music is an independent label run by a small intimate team. We run a legitimate label that focuses on championing exceptional talent, breaking new acts and nurturing them.

”I will like to clearly state that I have never fought or attacked Mohbad. For the avoidance of doubt I have never instructed anyone, friend, known associates or fans to attack, bully or harass <Mohbad. With regards to the talent on the label, none of our artists ever fought or mistreated Mohbad.

”I share my deepest condolences to the family. Let’s be mindful as we seek justice to focus on supporting the police and authorities with relevant information and evidence surrounding his death so that those responsible will be apprehended. I am positive that at the end of the day. the truth will prevail and I shall be exonerated.

”My lawyers are already in touch with the police and government agencies and will support in every way necessary.
”Without a doubt I will honor his memory and I promise to do right by him and his family.
”Thank you.”

  2. If Nigeria will get this one thing right and investigation reveal the real cause of his death, I will be very happy for once.

Nigeria failed Imole when he needed them the very most. His petition to the IG was never investigated and the people he mentioned interrogated.

The drug agency giving him a substance to drink is another act of evil and wickedness to a Nigerian by a failed system and corrupt country.

Young talented gone so soon. Watching and listening to his music brought tears to my eyes yesterday.

May we never seek help in life from people who would never listen or care to help us but push for our destruction.

  4. He might not be the killer, but he's already killed that guy before the actual death. The bullying by his dogs were too much, he should have call them to order. I don't like Naira,he seems like a bad influence to anyone listening to the rubbish he's singing.

The video of mohbad father and mother begging him says alot about his personality.

    1. He has never had a good reputation all his life. I read before 24yrs, he was arrested over 100 times. I don't know how true that report is.

He was a bad influence to the society. He surely has a thing to know about his death.

  6. Hmm... I've never been this confused since i arrived this world. What exactly is going on. Seems everyone surrounding the guy should be investigated from the father that hastily burried the boy without autopsy and benefiting burial,to his wife who he alleged in a voice note that if he kpai she should be held accountable,to the record label we heard are owning him millions of naira. Basically,he was living among his enemies. It's a pity such a young talent was killed without being protected by the Nigerian police force, and all the people that ought to protect him ranging from his mom, father, wife friends etc.
If there's reincarnation,i pray you will come into a loving family, you will marry a caring a wife and have a fantastic career and no single soul will ever kpai u again.
    Rest in peace Ilerioluwa.

  7. Gba Station lo, werey
    Go taste the new menu.
    And give us review.

In all of this, I really wish the investigation will cover all bases including the DNA test on Mohbad son. Let all doubts be cleared. There's something sinister about a woman that makes more than 6 posts randomly after receiving the news of the death of her husband. It just gives off an unsettling vibes.

Unrelated, but I have to put this out there. DNA is not the test of love or trust. It just a test that ascertain authenticity of a claim. I really don't see a big deal in it. And looking at it logically, DNA test possessed the same power as a wedding ring, it also possessed the same authority as a wedding certificate. It should be a normal procedure that every woman should look forward to especially women in abusive relationships. People should just live right. DNA has nothing to do with your trust or love. If I'm spending all my resources, time and emotions on a child, I have the right to know I "own" that child. And If I'm adopting, let me get through the process. Cheating alone is unfair not adding the high level of deception( DNA fraud).

And you've no moral jurisdiction to condemn DNA, if you support snooping.

  8. I'm sure him and Samlarry are the ones behind the DNA issues as it is very easy to distract Nigerians.
It's so hard to get justice in Nigeria sha . #sighs

    1. Whether they're the ones besides it or not, they still have a case to answer on all the battery, intimidation and all.
I support the DNA testing, cos of the surrounding circumstances around his death..
The VN of him accusing her of wanting to kill him etc..
The hospital saying he was BID, that means he died before they took him to the hospital, was he at home before he died, if he was, then his wife might know something, also why it was first reported that he died of ear infections, who sent that report to blogs, then immediately, all the bullying videos started dropping, it all looked like someone was trying to divert attention, you get..
Then those guys that released the first video inside the car,. They should be arrested..

See ehn, it's possible, they might all be linked to Naira and Sam too, that's why we're saying they all should be investigated thoroughly..

But Naira and Sam are not innocent, whatever way it ends, even if they were not the ones that finally off him, it still won't exonerate them for their bullying

  11. He has engaged a PR team and a legal team. That's nice. An accused person is deemed innocent until guilty is proven. Sincerely I have never like the "igbolabi" and irresponsible mannerisms this boy called Naira brazenly displayed. He should be tamed whether found guilty or not guilty of Ireoluwa's death.

  12. This is super story, yen yen yen yen yen yen yen. You and your geng thought it will be business as usual, as in the way Nigerians quickly move on to other things. You must have told yourself 'give them one week, they will forget and move on'...lol. You dey ment. IMOLE is in every body's heart at the moment (and we pray forever) and we want him to get justice. Go to the police and tell them what you know. I know all the while you have been hiding, you must have consulted all the babalawos you know but GOD will remain the ALMIGHTY GOD.

  15. This one wants to confuse Nigerians with English. Who is the one behind the whole misery that mobahd went through while he was alife? Why didn't you debunk his claims when he called you out as the one who has been tormenting his life? I won't blame you. It's the Nigerian government heads that rubs shoulders with you lots that I will blame. See him saying he doesn't belong to any confraternity lol, he even denied that he is into drugs.

  16. The moment Mohbad's family members started accepting money left and right, they traded their chances of getting him justice.
Those who are involved in his death have probably donated to them and have seen their reaction to money, they paid bloggers to change the narrative and it's working because people are confuse already, that's for those who don't understand the power of influencing.

  17. I am wondering how he knows the man was murdered, which killers does he hope to find? I have not read every publication of events, but nothing that I have seen reported by credible sources has stated that he was murdered, they said the death was mysterious or he died from a reported illness. The murder angle came from public sentiments, not any reported facts related to the case. Hmmmmm

Sometimes these press releases cause more problems for ppl. Words on paper regarding a sensitive issue in active investigation should always be as brief as possible. No more than five lines.

May the truth prevail. I hope a toxicology analysis was done during the autopsy.
