ReplyDeleteThank God for life.
You see this life? When I see people acting as if they’re above certain issues I smh. NO ONE is above challenges, regardless of how settled you are. Na only grace dey cover person shame.
ReplyDeleteThe shock on my face when I saw AYs house burning that day. I said: truly we never know the angle the enemy will hit.
May God protect and show us mercy. I’m still in shock.
It really was a dream home. Yep, life happens to everyone. This is why I do my best not to get attached to earthly things. The relationships that I value and the people that I love are the most important to me in this life.
DeleteThey really need to do a forensic investigation of the fire. It obviously spread very quickly and was ferocious enough to completely gut the house. Perhaps there is some knowledge that can come out of it to make things safer for others.
Oh boy!!!
ReplyDeleteMy God! This is much o. What could have caused the fire?
ReplyDeleteAy, may you build a better one in Jesus name, amen.
Thank God no life was lost and they were not home. Hopefully the domestic staff were also safe. We need to remove sentiments. A friend of mine lost their home to fire last year and the insurance has lodged them in a hotel since while investigating & rebuilding for the past 12 months. It is global standard to carry out forensic investigation as to the cause of the fire. Was it an electrical accident or deliberate action (Arson)? If it is electrical in a developed society building codes will be updated as they learn from every incident.
ReplyDeleteIf it is arson (who, which accelerant was used? the fire burnt everything to the ground) it is a serious crime, the culprits should be prosecuted.
Home insurance will not pay out until investigations & determination of cause happens. As a home owner or buyer from all these “pop up builders”, demand from the developers of these overpriced homes without infrastructure a well equipped fire truck that cost the same as a couple of Gwagons. They can afford it after selling 50 to 100 units of these homes, instead of buying a $1m home with Chanel throw pillows, Versace blankets and Italian building names! My city of 150,000 residents has about 10 fire stations and well equipped trucks! Lekki has millions of resdidents with none. Like the rest of Nigeria & the homes are now equipped with sophisticated appliances & wiring that require code enforcement during construction like here. Corruption won’t even let them enforce codes hence the uncompleted building collapses in Banana Island & Ikoyi recently.
The developers should buy at least ONE well equipped fire truck ($300k to $1m) once they have several units of “overpriced houses” in their "estates" from their margins for added safety & assurance! This isn’t the government alone as firefighting is a town/neighborhood affair, not even county (local govt) or state or federal. Those ones come in linking firefighting infrastructure to the rest of the first responder system; ambulances with paramedics linked to hospitals, police stations & cops, all linked to dialing 911 or an alarm going off in your home such that when the smoke alarm first went off (I’m assuming they had smoke alarms), the entire first responder system got notified. Including the ambulance services & nearby hospitals in case there were any injured persons. It’s the reason first responders are the ones that use SIRENS in many countries not pretenders, looters, fake “money miss road VIPs” & their wives en route an Owanbe! It’s the law that you must clear the road & allow first responders, usually they get to the scene in minutes as a place with millions of residents like Lekki should have at least 20 fire fighting trucks who could page neighboring ones in VI, VGC etc for reinforcement in wider fires! Every time I read news like this my heart sinks. It just reminds me π³π¬is 50 years behind due to bad & corrupt leadership for the past forty years! In this age when helicopters & drones are drawing ocean water & fighting wildfires in Greece, California etc, π³π¬is blessed by God to not have natural disasters. Bad governance seems like the disaster the country has, sadly it affects both the rich & poor. Fire trucks don’t cost much more than 2 of the Lamborghinis or Ferraris parked in a few homes but we prefer to show off than be proactive. The lesson in all these avoidable bad things from security to health to fires is that Nigeria can happen to anyone, rich or poor so it’s time to fix it!
At this stage it's safe to ‘pretend’ the government at all levels "does not exist" in Nigeria as they don't even provide water, good health facilities, public transportation, good & adequate roads or any basic infrastructure. A well equipped fire truck costs between $300k to $1.4m, majority of the builders of these over priced "estates" without trees, bike & jogging trails, parks, good public schools, fire stations etc CAN afford one truck parked within the estate, training a few volunteer residents. Many fire fighters in the US are volunteers.May God restore AY’s loss, help π³π¬.
Hmmm, mh dear! And sime people will dtill question why otherd are "japaring". Little things likr these are some of the reasons people migrate!
DeleteOh God this is much π₯
ReplyDeleteAll I can say is thank you Jesus for saving the lives of every member of AY's family... They will surely build the one that is far more beautiful than this in Jesus Mighty Name π
