Pastor Odukoya Reportedly Died From Heartbreak Triggered By The Losses He Suffered

The Senior Pastor of Fountain of Life Church, Lagos died from health issues triggered mainly by personal tragedies.

A source close to the family said, “He really didn’t get over the losses he suffered. He tried to be strong but there is a limit to what a man can take.”
Odukoya, fondly called Pastor Taiwo, lost his wife, Bimbo, in the Sosoliso plane crash in 2005. He remarried and then lost his second wife, Nomthi, to cancer in 2021. In that same year, he lost his twin sister, Kehinde, at the age of 65.

Another source close to the church said, “If Pastor Bimbo’s death was shattering, Pastor Nomthi’s demise was a technical knockout. It knocked Pastor (Odukoya) down and out. He was inconsolable. He was very bothered about what people would say.

“It left him totally lifeless. There was nothing we could tell him. It took something deep out of him and some of us became afraid for him.”
When The Nation visited the church yesterday for the reactions of its members, most of the respondents said the pastor might have died of loneliness.

  16. There's a limit to what everyone can take, tragedies kept reoccurring around him. God bikonu, consider your creations sometimes and save them from too much tragedy that sweeps them into deep perpetual agony. Ahh, we're humans and not some pillers or concretes after all. Find peace and rest in God's bossom sir. Rest easy.💔

  18. Depression is real. Kindly put a call across once in a while to people you have not heard for a while. Don't just assumed all is well. That call or visit might be a life saver.

    2. He did not deal with his foundation! May his Soul rest in power! He shouldn't have remarried! Sometimes God want to carry His work! See Paul never married! How can a man of God be lonely, when he has the Holy Ghost.

    3. "How can a man of God be lonely"? Really? He's first a man, before "of God". Most servants of God are actually lonely, and depressed. Elijah was depressed, that's why God instructed him to anoint Elisha in his place. Also, I'm a servant of God , and I have been in and out of depression for many years! Please don't comment on what you don't understand. Rest in the bosom of our God, pastor!

    4. @ 17:31 Elijah did not have the comforter like us! We now have the Holy Spirit, God himself living in us. In Elijah's time the comforter had not come to dwell in Men, it was only through worship and sacrifice.
If you are depressed, in this new testament age, you need the in dwelling of the Holy Ghost! Did you see depression in the new testament? Please go and study your word!

  21. The losses were much. He is human. He would have persevere small because of the little children left behind. Heavenly comfort to all. His death is painful. May his family never lose faith in God. They should see it as the battle of faith

  23. He was a human after all, who wouldn't think, feel lonely and probably enter into depression with all he passed through? His story reminded me of Ada Ameh of blessed memory. May God rest Pastor Taiwo soul and comfort the families he left behind.
