Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) has threatened to pull out workers from the National Housing Fund’s (NHF) contributory funds over non-remittance of deductions made. NLC President, Joe Ajaero made the threat in Abuja, on Wednesday while appearing before the House of Representatives Ad hoc Committee on Non-remittance to the NHF and Utilisation of the funds.



 The Lagos State House of Assembly has rejected 17 out of the 39 commissioner-nominees submitted by Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu. Some of the nominees rejected by the lawmakers include former Commissioner for Health, Prof Akin Abayomi and former Commissioner for Information & Strategy, Gbenga Omotoso.

 The outgoing National President of Jama-at-tul Islammiya of Nigeria, Arc Taofeeq Agabje has urged Nigerians to be patient with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration. Agbaje said the new administration needs time to settle down and come up with its programmes. Wike attributed the ban to his belief that individuals who engage in activities like selling corn and street hawking contribute to the insecurity and criminal occurrences in the nation’s capital.

 James Heappey, the United Kingdom’s minister of state for the armed forces has applauded the efforts by the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) to restore democratic rule in Niger Republic. Heappey spoke after a meeting with the ministers of defence and military chiefs in Nigeria to discuss the political situation in Niger.

7. The scheduled arraignment of the suspended governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Godwin Emefiele by the Federal Government on a 20-count corruption charge failed to hold on Wednesday.  The National Youth Service Corps has said its Director General, Brig. Gen. Yusha’u Ahmed is working with the Nigeria Police Force, the Department of State Services, and the military brigade to secure the release of eight corps members kidnapped in Zamfara State on Saturday. The NYSC Director, Press and Public Relations, Eddy Megwa, made the development known on Wednesday.
