Edo State Governor Obaseki Bans Dep Gov Shuabu's Media Aides After Brouhaha At State Function

Edo State Government has disbanded the media crew attached to the Office of the Deputy Governor, Philip Shaibu. In a statement on Monday by the State’s Commissioner for Communication and Orientation, Chris Nehikhare, the government directed the Deputy Governor to henceforth request the Ministry of Communication and Orientation for media coverage of activities of his office.

this happened after the Deputy Governor, Philip Shaibu, walked out of the venue after his aides were denied entry by security officials.

Shaibu arrived at the venue alongside some aides during the governor’s opening remarks but some security operatives at the entrance of the hall barred the aides from entering the hall.

In a viral video of the incident on social media, the security operatives tried to explain to Shaibu amid the ensuing drama, but he insisted that his aides “must come with me”.

Shaibu then told his aides, “let’s go” after failed efforts to reach an amicable agreement with the officers.
