ReplyDeleteMarriage is a marathon. That young man and the girl who are broke today may be multimillionaires in about 15 years or less while Pa is like 85 and she becomes a caregiver…I hope not. When I got married decades ago, I didn’t imagine we would get to this point as we were both young but hardworking, prayerful & ambitious…the things naijas post as “big deals” is no big deal even for many of us, a girl marrying grandpa for them?
ReplyDeleteLadies stop this mentality of instant gratification and materialism. I will never advise my relative of that age to go into this sort of relationship! There are young guys like Messi who reportedly has only slept with his wife (he knew her since they were in grade school)! He had nothing when his wife started following him, John legend, Obama, and many regular successful people who marry within their age range who should be your model.
I personally believe this young lady is the poster child & bad example of the influence of societal poverty caused by corrupt governance & hopelessness on long term decision making but time will soon tell….. Ask most women who started with their hubbies in their 30s or 20s how far by the time the man is 70. If they want to be honest with you, the kind of intimacy a girl of this age wants or desires is not available with such men! All she can do is pose in front of the house or cars when she could get both with prayer & patience! Do you think Adenuga, Ote$ or Elumelu or any high income wealthy educated family will allow their daughter get into this situation? If the answer is NO then she is the poster child for poverty as the motivator for some girls’ choice in marriage. Time will tell but avoid copying her. No abuse, it’s my opinion.
