HOR Wades Into JAMB Versus Miss Mmesome Result Brouaha

The House of Representatives on Wednesday directed the Joint Admission And Matriculation Board (JAMB) to desist from any further action on the issue of the alleged manipulation of the Unified Tartary Matriculation Examination (UTME) result by a candidate, Miss Ejikeme Mmesoma.

This followed the adoption of a motion on a call to investigate the alleged manipulation of the UTME by JAMB by Miss Ejikeme Mmesoma sponsored by Hon. Awaji-Inombek D. Abiante.

The House also called on JAMB to lift the sanction of barring the candidate from participating in the examination for three years. and called for independent examiners to examine the girl’s script to determine her score.

It also resolved to set up an ad-hoc committee to investigate the alleged manipulation and report back in three weeks.

The House also resolved to probe JAMB facilities with a view to averting such a situation in the future.

The House expanded the scope of the committee to probe the issue of special centres for examinations in the country.
The House said it was aware that Miss Ejikeme Mmesoma of Anglican Girls Secondary School, Nnewi, Anambra State sat for the 2023 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examinations and scored 362.

The House also said it was aware that on 2 July 2023 JAMB, Head of Public Affairs and Protocol, Dr. Fabian Benjamin made a public pronouncement accusing Miss Ejikeme Mmesoma of manipulating her UTME results that she actually scored 249 instead of 362 as claimed.

It said it was further aware that Miss. Ejikeme Mmesoma came out to defend herself, that she actually printed the result from JAMB.

The House noted the girl had been a brilliant child all through her nursery and tertiary education, coming first in all the examinations she has taken before the UTME, hence she posited that she is not capable of manipulating her UTME result.

The House said it was cognizant of the fact that uploading or downloading results of examinations or polls electronically, in Nigeria, glitches can occur at any time, hence the need to establish the facts before any blames.

I honestly pray that she is innocent.

  2. This is the right thing to do. An independent body should investigate this case and also go through her script for a remark. I also hope the process will not be jeopardized as I do not trust these wicked people at all.

If she’s innocent, I hope she’s duly compensated and if she’s truly guilt, I hope an appropriate punishment and not a vindictive one will be meted out to her

    1. Well said,Eka. Jamb is just acting like a spoilt child throwing tantrums. A whole 3 years ban without considering how it will affect her future.

    2. Totally the right thing
They know their system has issues. Why not check before calling her names

    3. @20:11and 20:13. No system has issues. The 3 years ban is very lenient if it were to be abroad she would be heading to jail, she is 19 and what she did is a crime. For your information she has already confessed on National TV what other investigation do we need. Kudos to JAMB for trying to curb corruption we as individuals must play our part irrespective of tribe.

    4. Go and read Osita Chidoka former Minister For Education's submission on this matter. This lady wrote the JAMB exam in his centre. He confirms the result is fake because of a lot of red flags.
The printout doesn't come out in the format she is displaying anymore, it changed since 2021 with the new version carrying candidates photos, the name of the centre has changed since 2021, her printout is still showing the old name.

    5. Anon 4:01, post the link of the video where she confirmed that she lied and forged results. This girl said she is 16, you are saying 19, prison ko, cell ni. As far back as 20 years ago, there was special centre for JAMB, it's very possible this was a mistake, network error etc. Let them investigate properly than banning her for 3 years and spoiling her chances at scholarships for a better education.

    6. You people are just pushing this girl into handcuffs. She is 19 and would be prosecuted if this continues.

The evidence JAMB tendered is folly-proof, as well as her Telco log which cannot be tampered with. She attempted to be the best in her school but pushed it too far. She let her ego get the best of her. The moment the investigation gets to where she printed the fake results, she and many other budding tricksters across the country will be facing jail time. Like the others who have retreated, she should not let the people falsely claiming tribe and class to deceive her any more. Her father has turned this into a tribal thing and this will certainly not help her. The moment they nab the IP address of the system she printed it on and scan her phone records, she will be facing far more trouble and those using her to perpetuate victimhood will be clicking on other news if they still have data.

  4. Good one from the house of representatives. There's need for proper investigation.

  5. Hon. Awaji-Inombek D. Abiante should stop mis-representing himself as the "House". He is one member. JAMB has a duty and it has carried it out. The way these people are going about the whole thing, I hope this girl does not land in jail. She is 19 and an adult by the Nigerian constitution, I actually thought she was a minor until her results were released.
How did she know she scored the highest with the forged 362 ?!
How did she know no one else in the 36 states scored 364? Who made the declaration to her?For her to parade that score as highest way before JAMB did (which it would be if it were real) shows she knows something.
She needs more than kids gloves to confess.

They are investigating to answer you

    4. Anon 20:13, you should read the facts, the girl needs to come clean . Not everyone has wool over their eyes, she's embarrassing the state and her school and should be stopped. The only type of talking needed from her is naming her collaborators, like who printed the fake document for her, who emboldened/assured her that this very basic scam was fool proof. Who told her she had the highest score, etc. There are certain things expected of someone who was just scammed, she has not exhibited these traits. She may not know everything, but she knows enough to be properly interrogated.

    5. According to law, you are innocent until proven guilty. Let them do a remark, which jamb should have done in the 1st place, and shown evidence. Right now jamb is just barking, ad the babe can sue them.

      Delete
    6. @23:25 which remark do you want, The system is ICT based moreover she should have waited for the investigation before outing and implicating herself. These people that wanted to investigate should be ashamed for her. From rushing to the Anambra Ministry of Education to proclaim first and ask to be recognised for scholarship ,presenting a fake/ forged JAMB print out with an outdated format and acknowledging on National TV that she knew what her real scores where, she has short herself on the foot. She has investigated and indicted herself.

    7. 19:46, leave them to continue to deceive themselves and ruin this girl's life. No top scorer will be proud of 249 as it is definitely not the highest in her school. She simply overshot the fake score and got all this unneeded attention so she could not walk it back. This trick is very common with people whose parents are not enlightened enough to verify their scores. She would have loved later during UTME that she was denied because of tribalism or her name was switched because she couldn't bribe instead of the family knowing that her score was just okay compared to to others.

  6. It's so sad that this girl upgraded her results from 249 to 362.

    2. @20:39 she has already owned up.she forged the 362 score, she knew are original score from JAMB. She said this on National TV.

  7. She's not even a minor, she's 19yrs old.
She has even agreed that it was 249 that JAMB sent to her .
I hope she will not end up in jail.

    4. I believe you should take your words and hide your own head in shame dear castle for she has admitted to forgery

  8. They should investigate and if true, assign her punishment e.g banning her from retaking JAMB for a year or two. But dragging DSS into the matter was an overkill

  9. There was another candidate from the North with a similar issue. Why was there so much noise on the lady's case and not the other one?

    3. The person from the north was not named while she was. How will people interview an unnamed person? Why did JAMB hide the other person's identity? The candidate from the North did not even buy the JAMB form, let alone sit for the exam.

  10. It's been discovered that there's an App they're using to manipulate the results, as at now she's not the only one with the fake result.
Instead of the result to be in portrait, the fake ones are in landscape.

  11. Her own printout does not have her photograph on it. While the original have candidates pictures.
She just wanted to scam innoson motors by presenting herself as the highest scorer.
Funny enough the real highest scorer with 360 mark is also from Anambra state .

    1. Mmesoma is not from Anambra state. She is from Enugu state but lives and schools in Anambra while the person that scored 360 is from Anambra but schooled in Ogun state so they are not both from Anambra.

  14. Everyone keeps seeing an underaged girl in the picture but the game is larger that what the ordinary eyes can see . The whole plot is to discredit JAMB and by so doing discredit the Chairman , Isaq Oloyede . They want Oloyede out because that man has been returning billions back to the coffers of the government . The little girl is just a pawn in this game , there are larger stakeholders with evil intentions and the overall plan is to kick Oloyede out of JAMB but they will fail .

  15. She is fraudulent and most go to jail. She has already confessed on National TV. What other investigation do we need?

  16. All others culpable should be exposed

  17. I don't believe she could have inflated her scores. What if it was where she went to print out her results they used the app to print her results?

Yes, she saw 249 as SMS but we know how we believe in miracles. She would have thought it was miracle for her print out to be higher than the sms sent.
She may not have seen JAMB print out results before now to know it comes with pictures (immediately I saw what she displayed I knew something was wrong and I know this because my son took JAMB and I printed his result), if not I won't know.
Thorough investigation should be done and if possible, give her another exam to write.
