CBN's Suspended Gov Emefiele Pleads Not Guilty To Firearms Charge

The immediate past governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Godwin Emefiele, on Tuesday pleaded not guilty before the Federal High Court, Lagos, to a charge of illegal possession of firearms brought against him by the Ministry of Justice.

According to Dailypost, he was arraigned on a two-count charge bordering on unlicensed possession of firearms.
In the first count, he is accused of possessing a single-barrel shotgun (JOJEFF MAGNUM 8371) without a licence, which is contrary to Section 4 of the Firearms Act, and punishable under Section 27 (1b) of the same Act.

  1. I'm following updates on Arise TV and I can't help but pray that God does not make us scapegoats. The fate that has befallen this man is far worse than falling from grace to grass. How do you explain a Central Bank Governor being charged with serious allegations such as possessing unlicensed firearms, among other financial crimes?

This is a shocking turn of events that has many questioning the integrity and credibility of the entire financial system, as well as the Nigerian government in general.

  2. Am I suprised? NO!

Was I expecting this? YES (and even worse!)

This is the same man who went to buy presidential form under the APC! I stand to be corrected but I don't think ANY CBN Governor has ever done such.

As the Governor of the CBN, I don't think it is right to run for office: as the Governor, you are supposed to be apolitical.

    1. No CBN has ever been used against the masses like Emefiele. At a point he started acting based on his whim. He ignored his masters then. So greedy a man.

    2. His running for president is his personal choice. I care less about that degree of his gullibility.

I hope after using this charge to hold him down, they actually try him for conspiracy to mass murder Nigerians. This vampire printed less than 20percent of the notes his CBN mopped up leaving Nigerians to scramble, beg and die for their own money knowing fully well that he didn't print enough notes.

Whether for selfish ambition or sadisti pleasure, he oversaw the annihilation of many innocent lives while ensuring that bandits and other terrorists never went without.

Remember that tomorrow might be your turn too in the hands of another perceived enemy.

    1. Yes, you're right Dozzybest, coming from the angle of him being witchhunt by the current government, but I am in support of it and I applaud Tinubu for that!

    2. Anything Tinubu does would never be enough for you people. After the horror this man put us(masses) through just because he wants to showcase his power. Don't you think he deserves to be punished??? He was acting based on the instructions of his master at the detriment of everyone else. Yet you are here talking about transition of power.

  4. While in office, he made very stupid policies that bothered around mediocrity. He was insensitive to the plight of Nigerians and I'm very sure a lot of us will be happy at this current development. His 'fight' with AbokiFx, POS operators and MFBs are typical examples.

Under his watch, the dollar gained a lot of power over the Naira & he dares to call himself an Economist!

Abeg, I am tired and hungry.

  5. He dined with the devil without using a long spoon. A weak man fueled by greed. This is how buhari wanted to mess up Kachikwu but that one borrowed sense fast. He was carried away with buhari's lamba that he would help him to become president or Vice after him as long as he cooperated fully and the mumu believed. Who dey suffer am now? Somebody that should have resigned or retired 4 years ago is now seeing spiced shege.

All the new money wey he say dem print, whether na for Ghana or Kenya dem dey spend am, people no even know. I really don't care what the f*ck happens to him from here on. Nigerians suffered more. Imagine being at the helm of affairs at the ONLY time Nigerians bought their own money whilst in their own country. Werey and him Oga turn naira to forex for 3 months. Mtscheeeew. 600 years of barbecued shege be unto all wicked and greedy public servants/rulers.

  9. Let him showcase his power now. I mean the one that left almost everyone in penury. Not because we don't have money but because we are under strict policy of a puppet that takes to every instructions of his master to the letter. Deal with your mess alone, Elemiewele. Mtsheeeeeew
