President Bola Tinubu is expected to leave Nigeria today to join world leaders in Paris, France, on Thursday, to review and sign a new global financial pact that places vulnerable countries on priority list for support and investment, following the devastating impact of climate change, energy crisis, and after effect of the COVID-19 pandemic.


The naira slumped further to the dollar after closing at N770.38/$ at the end of trading on the investor and exporter forex window on Monday. According to figures obtained from the FMDQ on Monday, the trading rates had closed at N686.96/$ on Friday.

 The National Industrial Court on Monday declared that the order barring the Nigeria Labour Congress and Trade Union Congress from embarking on their planned strike subsists. The court, as a result, ordered the parties to maintain the status quo and adjourned the matter until July 20, for a hearing.

The Federal Government, on Monday, confirmed that it had commenced the implementation of the payment of 7.5 per cent Value Added Tax on Automotive Gas Oil, popularly called diesel. Officials of the Nigeria Customs Service and Federal Inland Revenue Service confirmed this in Abuja.

 The Lagos State Police Command has arraigned three men, Stanley Gabriel, Yusuf Olaitan, and Ifeanyi Ogbu, for allegedly stealing roofing sheets worth N60m property of a company, Landing Zhao, in the Dopemu area of the state. The trio were arraigned before Magistrate Adeola Olatunbosun on three counts of stealing and receiving stolen goods.
