The National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons says no fewer than 25,000 trafficked Nigerian women and girls are trapped in Mali. The Commander of the Benin Zone of NAPTIP, Mr Nduka Nwanwenne gave the figure on Tuesday at a workshop organised for media professionals in Lagos.

 The families of no fewer than 103 wedding guests including a father and his four children have been thrown into mourning after a boat accident claimed their lives at Egbu village, in Patigi Local Government Area of Kwara State. It was gathered that the victims were returning from the ceremony at Egboti village in Niger State when the boat conveying them to their destinations crashed.

The NBA said this in a letter by its president, Yakubu Maikyau, SAN, in reaction to a statement by the President, during his Democracy Day address, “that the unnecessary illegal orders used to truncate or abridge democracy will no longer be tolerated.”

 The naira on Monday recorded marginal gains at the parallel markets and steadied at the official, the first business day after former Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) Governor, Godwin Emefiele was suspended by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
