CHRONICLE OF A MARRIED MAN

 Oh Dear!

 Those days, I saved some money from my factory job and started running a small video club in a wooden enclosement, I was just between 20-21yrs. I had varieties of movies for rent, Indian movies, Chinese movies, American movies and Asaba movies.

People patronized me because my cds were always very clean and showed clearly when played on any Vcd player. I used to clean them after they are returned, there was this disc cleaner that I used.

After sometime, people started pestering me to add po#n popularly called "blue film" to my stock.

I was a child of God, blue film was not a good thing to add to my film rental business but when the prospects were much , the greedy person in me calculated how much I would make if I include them and so I later bought a few and hid them in a drawer in my desk. I couldn't display them on the shelves.

Soon, words spread that I had blue film for rent, that was how my sales boomeranged. People rented them more than they do other movies and their prices were slightly higher than the rest. I was happy for the sales.

There was this woman that also patronized me. she would rent three different types of blue films at once and I wondered why but it was none of my business really, she was an adult.

One hot afternoon, I was sitting on my bench receiving fresh air outside my small wooden structure when this lady, my good customer came with a middle aged man. I noticed she had swollen face and red eyes. He introduced himself as her husband and asked why I have been renting out blue films to his wife. 

I apologized and told him that I didn't know that she was married(yimu). He replied me with a slap, he said I have scattered his marriage because his wife has been watching them and it is an abomination in his church.
I was rubbing my cheek while telling him "sorry sir" as he landed me another slap.

Why should I recieve beatings for doing business with an adult, without defrauding anyone? I retaliated and beat him to a pulp before neighbours rescued him.
This man went to call police and told them that I was sleeping with his wife.
I suffered very well in the hands of the police as they also added my offence of operating illegal business. Video club business was considered illegal back then, I don't know about now.

When I finally got freed, I closed the business.
