Apostle Chibuzor's Largesse To Late Deborah Samuel's Family Questioned As They Claim They Are Suffering

In an interview with fIJ (Foundation for Investigative Journalism), late Deborah Samuel's family opened up that life has not been easy with them since they relocated to Port-Harcourt.

You will recall that when Deborah was lynched to de#th because of her faith, her parents vowed that they would not send any of their children to school again.

Apostle Chibuzor Chinyere, the General Overseer of OPM announced in Facebook that he would help them. He facilitated their relocation to Port-Harcourt from Niger state, gave her father, Mr Garba Emmanuel a car for taxi business and gave them a mini estate.

One year later, Mr Garba says, “People think that we are living well but we are not. OPM took us from where we were in Niger State to Port Harcourt City last year. The OPM pastor gave us a mini estate with about 14 self-contained apartments. After that, OPM rented this bedroom flat for us.”

“He said we should be staying here because we are a family and those self-contained apartments cannot be enough for the family. He furnished the apartment with the appliances.

“The first time we got here, OPM got me a car. It was a Toyota Corolla but it wasn’t new. It was a fairly used vehicle and the car has developed some faults. I was using it as a taxi before but it has some challenges and I have parked it.

“The first time OPM brought us to Port Harcourt they brought food items to us. After that first time, we have been struggling on our own. Right from the day OPM gave me this car, the car has been developing faults. On the first day I tried to take my children to school the car broke down on its way back. We towed the car back.

“I even went to the OPM pastor to speak with him in person. I let him know that the car has been developing a fault all this while. He called the person who bought the car on behalf of OPM and that person said that I did not know how to drive the vehicle properly. I have been a driver before now; this is not the first vehicle I’ve driven.
“The engine of the car is bad and I don’t have the money to fix it. I am looking for money to feed myself and my family. All the money people gave me for my upkeep, I used it on this car. Whenever I complained, the PA to the OPM pastor told me to stop complaining about the car but to fix it myself.”

When he was asked about the mini estate that was given to them, he said,
“From time to time, the OPM leader used to call to check on us. He paid the rent. Right now, the rent for this apartment has expired. The landlord has told us to renew the rent or leave. All the appliances and the equipment in this apartment belong to OPM, we don’t own it."

Concerning the scholarship offered to the children, he said, “OPM gave Deborah’s siblings a scholarship each. They are schooling here in the church’s free school. However, the scholarships were not all what we thought they were. They promised to send one of my boys to school abroad. We were told it was going to be a European country. I was surprised when my son turned the offer down because they sent him to Cotonou instead.”

  1. See, the Man of God has a lot of responsibilities and his ministry is a prophetic and deliverance one. A lot of sensitivity to the Spirit realm is of utmost importance here. I said that to say, most of this welfare challenges are passed on to senior members of the ministry after the first encounters and meetings. Those placed there are doing a very very poor job and should be questioned seriously so people will stop dragging the Man of God.

    1. You see what you described is exactly the problems we have in Nigeria as a whole.
The Pastor/ Leaders can't be everywhere at the same time, so s/he has to delegate the responsibilities to other people to oversee, unfortunately, they are the ones not performing as expected but the blame will be directed to the leaders.

Such a smelly entitlement mentality from this family..when alot of people are out there looking for just small opportunity to better themselves, they will pick from where their benefactor stop and do wonders..these ones are here lamenting! Let you ye be ye and your nay be nay.

It is a demonic thing to be fraudulent or scamming other people for clout or whatever. You give someone something they should be able to use to work but the said thing is not working itself. How have you helped them in actual sense? But you disguised a dead thing as a living thing. That itself is evil.

    7. The truth is that you can't help people by just giving them money to start up a business or go to school. You need to first change their mindset about life. You can give someone one billion and the person can tell you he or she is broke tomorrow. You can also give someone #10,000 and that person can turn it into #100,000

The man no pure. It is better to not promise and deliver than to make an oath and fall short. Na bible tal am. The family was overly reliant, maybe even greedy, the pastor was deceitful.

  5. I will have suggested apostle Chibuzor take a break in helping people but you can't stop a born philanthropist. This interview goes to show how wicked the heart of men is. You were living in Niger state where your life and that of your family is not secured after the death of your sister. Someone brought you to PH. Bought a car for you which you are using for taxi and you still expect the person to be repairing the car for you. See the way he described the car. You don't even have a bycicle when the man took you in. He promised to take your child abroad for scholarship and he had the guts to turn down the scholarship because he sent him to cotonou instead of Europe. Is cotonou not abroad?.
Apostle Chibuzor. You are a gift to humanity. Your kindness will not cause you pain. To the Samuel's family, no one tied your legs in PH and Apostle Chibuzor house. You can kindly pack your things and leave to Europe or anywhere you feel you will get a better life compared to what you are getting already. I hate ungrateful people with passion. If you feel it's easy to carry someone's responsibility, try am

Managing a rickety vehicle is not easy. A vehicle that was never functioning properly right from the day it was handed over to him. Where do you want him to get the money to repair the vehicle with? Where will he find money to even change the engine of the vehicle?

Didn't you see that non of the property in the house belongs to them? Like, even if they decide to leave P.H for another state now, they can't go with those furniture because it is not theirs. If not I would have adviced them to sell some of the property and use the money to fix the vehicle.

Zaram, you don't want to know what people want with trouble vehicle go through. You don't even want to experience it. You will keep using the money meant for feeding to fix vehicle that will develop new fault after one week.

You stay in North, you know how cost of living over there is compared to P.H. Have you compared 200 naira tomatoes in the North to that of the South? Is it with this problematic vehicle that he will use to make money to sustain his family till he is finally able to adjust with the life in the south?

    1. Exactly!

The pastor truly seems to be magnifying the amount of help he is giving people just for popularity. But also, this family seems to be very ungrateful. So in one year, both father and mother could not look for menial jobs to do? Their son even rejected admission to a school in cotonou? When people are looking for whole will pay their tuition in Nigerian schools. I'm so angry.

It's very hard to help some people because once you start to help, they will never want the help to stop.

Anyways, both sides are wrong. The 'MOG' is a clout chaser with the little help he offers and the Samuels family is ungrateful and come across as lazy.

Do you know how many Christian’s even in the US were moved and how much they were willing to give to e en relocate them? Everyone felt relieved because of what HE SAID he would do not realizing it’s πŸ‡³πŸ‡¬ where everyone does what they like. Painting this family as ungrateful is unfair. Oprah gave out 300 brand new cars on her show and was criticized for not paying the taxes on the cars as some recipient could not afford the tax bill. Those are brand new cars. The next set of cars she gave out on her show, she paid the taxes, took correction.

Publicizing that you gave them a block of flats when you only paid a year’s rent to uproot them from their home churches that were looking after them blocked global help which I hope this pastor did not intercept! Btw many of the “don’t help the poor, they get entitled” folks are considered POOR themselves by global developed world standard. If your household of 4/5 people makes less than N5m you too are poor so stop the condescension and hold this pastor accountable for his words so he stops deceiving the world. The boys in Cyprus said something similar too. Many come here to use these situations to raise $ in white churches but won’t give the money to those they used in raising money. Demand accountability from your political and religious leaders & stop taking sides against the weak. God is watching and will judge everyone. There is no “big man” or GO in God ‘s presence

Is it not this Deborah restaurant I used to pass almost everyday? Very lifeless place! Will you not wake up to cook and start selling on time? People will go there and food is not ready at past 9 or 10 and there are many other ready restaurants around! The pastor now should come and help you cook too? Lazy twats that just wants to spoil somebody's name. You even see someone that gave you car in this Nigeria and you have dirty mouth to say it's not new. You're very mad! How many have you given to people? Is he the cause of your predicament?

People survive with less and these ones are complaining! I don't understand how people just want things to just fall on their laps. Cook, make money, buy ingredients yourselves, fix your car yourself! He has given you a kickstart, what do you want him to do? Continue buying ingredients for you? Abeg abeg

This Deborah case, I practically pass that restaurant anytime I'm going somewhere. I'm always wondering why it's so dry, you hardly see someone there. One day I even asked my hair customer, "has this place always been this dead?"... She said that restaurant used to be the most happening place around(the previous owners). That she doesn't know if it's cos "their food is not always ready on time". Me, I was even empathetic. I'm like "abeg life too hard and people fit nor dey buy cos country hard."
That was my own o. And I just ignored this thing like that. Only to read this today! Ahn ahn! Why na? Why speak bad of someone that helped you once?

When bvs are sometimes rude to Stella, especially those that have received help from her sometime, I'm always wondering how someone can be like that. Because if someone does something nice to me, especially when I'm down, I'll be grateful forever. Because nobody, especially strangers, owe you anything in life. If someone went out of their way to be nice to you, please show gratitude!!!

Let me add that as a philanthropist, if you put somebody inchargre of anywork or project, make sure you supervise them from time to time no matter how much trust you have for the person. People are too selfish, the heart of man is desperately wicked. You pay them hugely as a reward for the work you employed them for and give them enough money for the project but they never get satisfied. They end up buying inferior materials for the work and use the rest money for their personal interest.

Who knows, he might have handed over enough provision for this couple, gave the P.A enough money to buy a good car but the greed in the P.A or whoever was incharge made him to act this wickedly towards this couple, thereby ruining the kind gesture of the person that brought them all the way from Kano down to P.H to give them a good life. Now the shame is on the person with the good intention.
Am just saying, maybe or maybe not, I can't vouch for this pastor. H may have done what he is accused of because I know for a fact that some fake philanthropist can purposely do this kind of act wickedness. You connive with the person you awarded the project to , give them money that can only be enough to buy inferior materials and tell them to manage it. Then they go ahead to take photos and post online and people will be awing and awing here and there; oh, he's a good man... All na wash .Na only people wey dey there go know say those things na fake.

  28. This isn't right at all, there are better ways to have approached this. On the part of the Church, they shouldn't have told Mr Garba's family the mini estate is theirs when they actually didn't intend to gift it to the family. If the PA isn't giving in to talk to the Pastor on your behalf why not talk to him yourself since according to you he calls often to check on your family, mention the expired rent and plead with him to help you start a trade/business to enable you pay subsequent rent and take care of your family. Tell your son not to despise the days of little beginning, you can't afford school fees now so he should accept the admission in Cotonou, learn French to give him an edge to get employed after graduation in any of their companies or any French speaking country abroad. Yes, OPM failed in two of their promises but never expect the Church to solve your problem πŸ’―% cos you are not the only one with problem in Church. As for the person who bought that live snake instead of good used car for Mr Garba, I really pity your life.

By buying a problem vehicle or renting a house and furnishing it of which they can't claim ownership of any of the property in the rented apartment? It is understandable if Deborah's parents offended him along the line thereby leading to his change of promise made.

This man made empty promises. What he made the public believe is far different from what he did in reality. Can't you people see that this man is a pastor and this is not a good example from him?

A European scholarship was promised in public and Cotonou scholarship offered in private.

They don't own the mini estate I guess.
I don't under the restaurant business...

One thing I learned early in life is to never, ever, ever depend on the promises of humans.
People change like the weather. Life changes like the weather. Accept in gratitude with zero expectations.

Whatever you have not earned with your own hands, is not yours. You can be asked to return a gift, and indeed many people ensure that whatever they give as gifts they recieve the equivalent in gifts...or the equivalent in other ways

I'm sure with the pastors influence, the man can get a job as a driver to one of the members of the church and the wife can be a nanny or home lesson teacher or prepare meals for offices.

  32. Thank you so much to the OPM Pastor for his consistent heart of God.

I like the different analysis by mostly takers. Takers are so good at analysis that they fall short in analysing their own lives. Takers believe that it was the money you gave them that affected their lives negatively. They will not include their laziness, their negativity and wickedness.

    The facts are;
The Pastor can assist one million people in various degrees. Some he may assist with a whole lot but it is only the determined that will rise and make something out of their lives. When someone sow a seed in your life, it is left for you to take that seed, plant it and let it grow. Don't wait for the seed sower, to cultivate a land, plant the seed, fertilise it, tender to it and also harvest the fruit for you and feed you.

A determined and a hungry person will make something out of it. He will ask himself or herself "what if this helper is not here, what if the giver has more responsibilities? You start diversifying income.

If you question this man very well, you will find out that the car was in good shape. For him to buy a car, pay rent for years and opt to send your children to school then he is someone with a good heart.

    Thank you OPM Pastor.

That’s wrong for starters. I do agree that the family has some sense of entitlement but you don’t pluck people from familiar surroundings and drop them in a strange place and expect them to find their own way quickly. You gave him a faulty car, where is he supposed to get the funds to repair the car? You gave them food, which is great. However, they have additional expenses to meet. With the broken down car, the man couldn’t generate any income to fend for the family. It’s a mess all round, TBH. Why say you gave them a mini estate but in reality you didn’t? If he had fulfilled his side of the bargain and they were still complaining, I would have castigated them. The man just needs to forget the promises and move on with his life.
