LP Crisis - Abure Regains Position As Labour Party Chairman

The Labour Party, LP, has announced the resumption of office of its embattled national chairman, Barrister Julius Abure.

Also, the party said that other national officers of the party have fully assumed their constitutional responsibilities.
The announcement was contained in a statement issued on Thursday following a press conference held at the party’s national secretariat in Abuja.

Before now, the Labour Party had been enmeshed in a leadership tussle, with Lamidi Apapa and Abure fighting over the position of the national chairman.
This followed an ex parte order by the Federal Capital Territory High Court restraining Abure from actingas the chairman of the party.

However, an objection filed by the party over the issue of jurisdiction was overruled by the court.
According to Abure, the LP had also filed an appeal subsequently entered at the Appeal Court on Wednesday, which he said had been served on the trial courts.

He argued that the FCT High Court has ceased to have jurisdiction over the matter.
“By necessary implication the FCT High Court in Maitama ceases to have jurisdiction over the matter. The matter is now on the course list of the Court of Appeal. So, what the High Court judge is expected to do is to adjourn the matter sine-die.
“However, having appealed and filed a motion for stay which has been served on the judge, I and my colleagues have now fully assumed our constitutional responsibilities as National Officers of the Party,” part of Abure’s statement read.

  1. This is a big blow to the Agbado family and Qudus who flew into Abuja yesterday to cause trouble.

APC should ask for a refund of their money from the grand Pa Lamidi Apapa. He did a bad and terrible job for them.

  4. This party is always beset with leadership tussles in different strata. Always. Withun your party your are always struggling for power then how can you get it outside? Does not appear organised in any way. As much as I like Peter Obi, my trust for this party's structure as a whole is non existent.
Same for every other party out there.

    2. May God forgive this starstruck violent mob of cultists who keep making tribalist and religiously bigoted statements about this man for looking like a Muslim and a Yoruba man of his age should. A party claiming they want to "answer excellent" is shielding a forger and perjurer and beating up an old man who never sought position as chairman until a court ruling against Abure automatically made him the next in line.

The people who are wailing against Oluomo are apparently his fellow thugs who believe in members suppression just like the former likes voter suppression. You people are jokers and Nigeria deserves to be free from jihadists of all sorts whether they are Buharideens or the blindly obidient. Not everyone is interested in beating up their fathers or vulnerable adults just for power.
