Father Rejects Body Of Son Who Committed Suicide After He Lost School Fees To Betting..

What a pity........

Samuel Adegoke, a student of the Federal Polytechnic, Ilaro, Ogun State, has committed suicide after losing his school fee and that of his colleague to gambling, leaving his father with no other choice than to reject his corpse.

Adegoke was said to have drunk a substance after he lost the money in an online betting game.

The ND2 student of Electrical Electronic Engineering, committed the act on Monday, May 22, 2023 a few minutes before exams started as he had betted away his school fees and lost
After losing his money in the online betting on Friday, Adegoke allegedly stole his roommate’s money by getting his password, but he also lost.
Daily post learnt that friends rushed the deceased to the school clinic, but he was referred to another hospital in Ilaro, where he was pronounced dead.

The FPI Deputy Registrar, Sola Abiala, confirmed the incident and said Adegoke’s father told the management that his son also lost his fee to gambling last session but he (his father) saved the situation by making another payment.

Abiala also disclosed that the father of the deceased student refused to go home with the corpse.

Though, the father said he would have paid the current fee if he had known that his son diverted it into gambling, he did not take the corpse home.

“When we asked the father to take possession of the corpse, he rejected it, saying he could not take his son’s body home. He asked us to bury him,” Abiala stated.

He explained that the school paid part of the burial expenses and paid the fee for the other student whose fee was used for gambling, so as to avoid another calamity.

“We don’t want him to also commit suicide,” he added.
Though the student did not leave any suicide note, Abiala said “the bottle of the Sniper he drank” was found in his room.

  2. Get rich quick syndrome is destroying a lot of young people in Nigeria. Get out of betting and channel your energy in playing sports. Before you make that decision to cut your life short because of some life challenges, please remember it's not just about you, your loved ones will live with the hurt and stigma.

  5. Betting and its likes will be the end of many in this generation. They made it look sweet and pleasant online, the influencer promoting this will have their share when the times come, it's hard to find a skit maker not promoting it.
Some of this bet company are even own by foreign; they trade on our foolishness and cash out big time.

    1. Yeah I feel for the dad as well. That was just a reaction due to shock. The school should not have rushed to bury him especially since it may be a site away from home. May God comfort the family. The school however did well by acting fast concerning the other student that was robbed.

  16. Gambling is a huge addiction that people are not paying serious attention to.I have a friend that had everything going well for him,had a govt job and side hustles that was making him like $350k per year but he eventually lost all of it to gambling.Lost his apartment, credit, couldn’t even go out at some point cos people were looking for up and down to pay gbese he borrowed as a result of gambling.People that have gamblers in their family should take note and help them or the result will impact the family too.
