They pay money for the awards. Some even approach the organisers and offer them money to be awarded.
ReplyDeleteIn this case, I'm.sure the award is a small one, that is why they approached him by themselves after picking him, other big ones, you will pay first before they pick you.
Stellz, that’s what they do. They make money from sponsors and nip off the winners of the awards. If you don’t pay, they find a way to collect it back or make sure you don’t get jobs or recognitions going forward.
ReplyDeleteNa so dem dey do. Even most of the honorary doctorate wey dem dey award upandan, same thing. Na the day wey zaazu go collect him own una go believe. There is absolutely no honour in some of the honorary titles/awards.
ReplyDeleteAre you just knowing this Stella? it happens in almost all the sectors. I remember my former place of work, an oil and gas servicing company in PortHarcourt, that's how we received a letter from one organization like that for an award of recognition, do you know they asked us to pay before the award could be given to us, meanwhile nobody lobbied for it. So I'm not surprised
ReplyDeleteYou're going too far, my HR asked for something after the voting shows I won best staff award for the year. I didn't give in and I was given first runner up. She confessed to me months later and I just chose to ignore her.
