A motion picture of the officers who were captured flogging and slapping an unarmed young man had trended on all social media platforms since Monday morning.
A statement issued by the spokesperson of the Rivers Command, SP Grace Iringe-Oko said the officers have been identified. She, however, failed to reveal their names
According to the PPRO, the officers carried out the unprofessional conduct at the Elibrada junction, Emohua in Port Harcourt.
She noted that as a defender of human rights, the CP also assured members of the public, that the Police Officers will be investigated in line with extant rules underlying the conduct of police personnel, stressing that appropriate sanctions would be meted accordingly.
“The Command further assures the good people of Rivers State of its unalloyed commitment to promoting the rule of law.
People are enjoined to report cases of human rights abuse and infractions to the command”,

Nigerians are becoming wise. I said this cos of the person who captured that scene through phone recording. When traveling guys, always make your phone handy for easy coverage but with carefulness.
ReplyDeletePls guys for security reason, carefulness should be taken when covering actions like this. The police can kill anyone trying to expose them. This is one of the many things they do to motorist every blessed day.
If possible, camera sound and flash should be disabled from the camera feature for those who intend to snap in order not to expose themselves.
That man could have been killed and tomorrow the police will accuse him of being one of the unknown gun men and the print Media and blogs will all publish it.
See how the police man flogged and slapped him twice in the presence of his wife. Very bad.
That man should be compensated for assault if possible from the four months salary of that idiot officer.
Good move by the Police. Say no to unnecessary brutality on unarmed civilians.
ReplyDeleteHappy to hear that the idiot has been arrested.
ReplyDeleteThat was very embarrassing to watch. A full grown man flogged, slapped and commanded like a child. The officer should be punished
ReplyDeleteWay to go 👍
ReplyDeleteGod bless whoever made that video!! Otherwise those nincompoops would have gotten away with it.
ReplyDeleteHaven't seen the video, good they have been arrested, that is, if the arrest is actually true
ReplyDeleteI really do not believe the police will do anything about it. the statement was just to pacify the public. if they are sure of doing the right thing, let the name and the picture of the police officer be made public so some eagle eyes can follow up
ReplyDeleteWhen it is their fellow men whipping them like malu, they become like earthworms.
ReplyDeleteNa woman den fit open their jaws like whale for. 🤣🤣🤣
Abuse and harassment was built into our society from long ago, I have been slapped by my lecturer in the full glare of a full classroom before, the same lecturer went ahead to fail me in a core course just to prove a point. The point is we always point to police, but every offices, schools and churches you go to in Nigeria is into one form of abuse or the other and it has become a norm almost like a culture. That's my own observation.
