PINKYS CORNER

It's so painful seeing a lot of bad things happening in this country. This government has just messed up big time with the masses. Don't know when we will get it right in this country, the corruption has eaten deep into us to the extent that, bank staffs are now into scamming, bribing and corruption.

Recently, POS business has been killed so badly, the only people who can keep going are those who are able to bribe the bank staff and also buy the new notes.

My experience yesterday: I went to the bank to get small money for my POS business but I was amazed when I got to bank and couldn't get new notes, was so angry and to make matter worse, I was told they can only give 20k- 30k to each customer....for wetin now?

As I was waiting for my turn, I met someone I know, who was coming out from the bulk room, I walked up to him and asked him if he was able to get enough cash and he said yes and told me to come closer. He explained to me that, he bought the new notes and now at his stand, he charges #200 for 1-5k because he had to make the money he used in buying the new note from the bank. I was surprised oooo. I thought he was deceiving me until someone else confirmed it. I tried to persuade them to at least direct me to the person but they refused.

My intention was to go to the person, get the new notes without paying him shishi then we will both start making noise till the bank manager and other customers get to know what's going on. I spent over 4hours in the bank and only got 30k mtchew, I just deposited it back and went home with annoyance.

Na only God fit help us I swear, as I dey now, I wan eye another business once I'm able to gather substantial amount of money because I can't allow this government to give me repetitive headache.
We move

Selling money? How can someone use money to buy money? Naija please dont give me headache!

INSIDE THE MIND OF A MAN GOING THROUGH FATHERHOOD

I can count the number of times I ever hit my sisters since I knew right from wrong.
I remember my last fight with them, it was with my immediate elder sister.
My dad gave me the beating of my life and warned me never to touch any of his girls again, he threatened to strip me naked, give koboko(horse whip) to each of them to flog my bare butt any day I tried it.
I was 8yrs old or thereabout.
This prevented me from even touching any girl in the whole neighborhood as a whole.
I never hit any of my girlfriends before I got married. Now over a dozen years in marriage, I have never touched my wife in anger. I have a phobia for even beating people in general.
My dad's discipline and warning caused it.

A childhood friend is a chronic woman beater.
His wife had left home several times but family settled them on each occasion. I have tried talking to him to stop it but he says he is only correcting her and doesn't see anything wrong with it. I had to distance myself from him.
You see this man, we grew up together in the same neighborhood. When we were younger, his parents would call him to come and "discipline" his sisters when they misbehaved.
He was still flogging them under the supervision of his parents when they were all above 18yrs of age.
Picture a 24 years old guy flogging a 20yrs old lady in their house, in the presence of their parents.
"Alloy, hold this wire, if she opens her eyes or puts her hands down, flog her"

"Ibukun, is it me you are looking at with bad eyes? James, give her a dirty slap for me"
"Edwin, your sister is still seeing that useless guy, do the needful on her body"
This is how it starts. A guy that beats his sisters to "correct" them will most likely beat his woman to "correct" her.

The ball is in your court my dear parents. If you must discipline your child, do it yourself. There are other ways of doing it asides beating.
I dont think i tow that route with my kids....

I know someone who used to do this while i was growing up, and she turned out to be exactly what they were supposedly beating her for not to do.....Many people grew up with the mentality that beating is the only way to correct mistakes of a child but its wrong.....

    1. Good afternoon Stella...
The cash exchange was announced since, initially the banks claimed that they don't have the new money then, CBN is yet to release the new money to them. CBN Claimed that banks refused to collect the new money. The story is not clear at all. The poor masses are now suffering for what they don't know. Some people went to the bank before now yet nothing.

    3. But honestly Nigerians don’t like progressive system. Please if you want your money to have value, start using coins and lower denominations. That is why the system abroad thrives. You only see lower denominations in circulation. If you want the higher ones, walk into the bank and make a request and you will go through rigorous interviews bc it is not supposed to be in circulation. It even cubs the ransom payments and politicians who hoard money. I’m happy the new note can’t stay to long in hoarding, it turns useless. Let’s see how they will be digging soak away pits to hide money. Let’s see how many N50, N10, N5 or even coins they will hide.

Please we need to stop complaining and look on the brighter side. It hurts now but it pays at the long run.

Stella Biko make a post on cashless system and the use of lower denominations. Abeg thé post will enlighten people on how seamless life is when you operate such systems. Thank you in advance 😘

    2. Anon 14:40, you can start with product like the ordinary, Cerave, cosrx, good molecules, etc. just find one within your budget and start with a low percentage like I said earlier.
Please use only at night, and follow instructions as directed on the product label.
Retinol comes in forms of cream, oil, serum, emulsion etc. just get the one according to your skin type and make sure to use a good hydrating moisturizer suitable for you skin after applying because retinol can be irritating to some skin types.
Don’t forget to use sunscreen daily. I hope this helps.

  19. Stella the problem was that the bank was still giving out old notes, imagine we went to the bank on January 11th to make withdraws for the petty cash and the cashier gave us old 200k. When we complained they said that is what is available.

From ending of December few ATMs were paying new notes while others were paying old notes. Remember that most people here have access to cash at month's end and not like money was sitting in the bank without withdrawing. The only solution is to make some cash available like small bills to help people have access to money. Electronic bank transfers should be in perfect condition, what more self.

Pinky, they are selling these new notes, i heard that efcc has started arresting those selling new notes. A colleague told me today that yesterday in his area no physical cash so he gave someone 50k to collect 70k in 5 days' time. Imagine businesses that people are doing on top we that are managing to survive. I wish you can alert efcc that bank and their staff selling our naira and see if they will deal with them.

I only pity okada, those selling pepper, tomatoes and small business who cannot get pos. I have been doing transfers or using my card to pay for things i bought.

  23. My people here that use prepaid metre, please how many electricity units do you use in one month. My household normally use between 80 and 100 units monthly and I was thinking we are doing well because we always do everything to save energy.
But since yesterday that I read where Pinky said he uses 73 units in two months, and that his neighbor uses 200 units in 6 months. 😮 I have been asking myself a lot of questions.
Is it that the different DISCOs charge different rates? Is the calculation done by the number of times you switch on/off a light or the duration that the lightbulb remains on? Hmmm because we can switch on/off like 100 times a day thinking that we are saving cost.
Pinky and others consuming lower units please how do you do it?

To even enter into the banking hall is a problem you have to collect number. 38. Today's fatherhood column said it all!
We should watch what we do and how we handle situations, that is why Nigeria is in this mess.
Madam Stella, this bank and naira note issue is a big problem, and it's the fault of CBN & Banks, not the poor masses.
How do you tell people to go change their old notes without giving back new notes? Since last week here we haven't seen new note!
This week we can't even get hold of old notes, we are stranded. If not that we bought some foodstuff and we have these home foodstuff sellers who stock up major things and also operate POS and mobile transfer we wouldn't have been able to transact.
Even the tow is dry, movement, no noise as it used to be bubbly here, everyone is taking caution and staying back cos no cash to love about.
I'm planning to travel to another town by weekend, I'm still wondering where I will get cash to pay driver, I'm hoping to trek around town in search of pos with cash or hope driver accepts mobile transfer of cash.
