  8. In a part of Igala land, ogugu to be precise, its a taboo for a married woman to give money to her parent without the husband's consent. They have so many Scarry taboo in that place that I pity women marrying them,I heard family planning is a taboo their too, the funniest thing is if their wives die, they must sleep with a woman that day so as as to stop the spirit of the dead woman from disturbing them. And a woman married to them must not share any personal stuffs with anybody,be it the sister, because if the person wears that stuff to her boyfriends house, it will affect the wife,it will be termed as if she cheated since it was her clothes the person wore to see man, e plenty for their body there, couple with alekwu stuffs, God forbid o

    6. Even olamaboro people in that same Igala practice it. My landlady then had 7children at 33 years and said she can't do family planning because no money to go and appease the gods. If she does Aleku will come for her. She married at 15. Her first daughter can't tie her wrapper too. They can't do abortion, if you beat your husband brother and blood comes out you must kill chicken for him. You can't give your mother 1 penny or foodstuffs without informing your husband.

  11. I know I girl that her marriage crashed because she gave her family small money to support her fathers treatment when he had partial stroke. she did not bring out everything o, just added money. She is a medical doctor, her husband also a medical doctor. Omo, all the members of her husband’s family came to fight her. Asked her to knee down and apologize which she did, her mother wanted to refund the money just for peace to reign but it was still not enough for the evil family.
The man and his family members threw her out with a daughter and another baby on the way.
All you people dating men who will ask you to call her lord, sir etc, continue o ,no matter how much you try werey na werey the girl I’m taking about is the most gentle, respectful girl I know. Thinking of it now, that was why he married because if na another girl when open eye then not fit try this rubbish . I cannot even imagine anyone telling to submit my whole salary to him, or tell me to knee down and beg him and his family members
And as for family members who cause pain to the women married into your famili prove almighty, God is watching you

    1. You can imagine the nonsense. So I’m supposed to take permission from my husband to give my parents money....that brought me into this world, raised me, trained me in school and have invested in me heavily. I can never understand it. Let’s make sure we do background checks on the men we want to marry.
Like I always say, if you come from a strong/united family, such will never happen.

    3. Her mother wanted to refund the money? Mehn it's skin deep because the obsession with making sure women remain married even in the most wicked conditions trumps everything else. Someone they should have cut off from even before they threw you out. It is well

      Delete
    4. It is not always marriage at all costs. Some matters are tied to taboos and punishment by the gods.

In some families involved in such taboo practices, the consequences follow them when there is a breach. Such consequences may be from their gods or by the spiritually wicked in the families who act as enforcers

Some wise parents try to shield their children from any punishment whether from the gods or the spiritually wicked in such families.

  13. Personally I wouldn’t want to marry anybody that pays his/her family monthly, unless that person is very rich. We can’t be running the home with the little we make, while you’re paying your family every month. We have to sit and agree on what we can be supporting the both families with when necessary and not mandatory every month. Your nuclear family must come first before the extended family.

I know some of you has problem with other peoples opinion on a public platform but you can’t swallow me.

This is so selfish in all angles me me me you came from somewhere. People nurtured you so you feel it's wise to just throw them away because you are raising your own family.

Truth is I cannot do what this man did and I see it as absurd and unnecessary..

However, when your parents, family members and village people were making up. Long list and bride price for your husband, they have 'sold' you to him.. he is now your lordship, to order and control..
    Take it or leave it..

Just hope and pray you marry a reasonable and sensible man who isn't insecure and won't run it in your face..

    6. Truthfully, the bride price is huge in some tribes. Men and women from such tribes even confirm it as extortionate.

Some families in tribes having extortionate demands and some families in tribes with moderate bride price, demand extortionate bride prices and items from prospective suitors.

And no. Not only the male in a family share in bride prices and bridal list items.

Some months ago, I was at a traditional marriage ceremony. The women in the family almost scuttled the ceremony because the groom had not brought the bags of salt demanded. They bluntly refused to accept cash in place of the exact bags of salt. After the ceremony, the money was shared amongst family 2k, 1k, etc. to the male and female members.

All said, bride price and dowry practice should be scrapped. Both are not in accordance with the rights women assert in and out of marriage. Both are contributory to some challenges women face in marriage. The exploding lantern cases in the Indian sub continent are a good example of the evil of dowry payment just as Nigeria has its own cases based on bride price.

No woman today should justify bride price payment. Rarely does big bride price evoke respect from the groom's family

Answer Chichi's question, the bride price you keep raving about, who takes the bulk of it? Men like you!!!
In some places, mothers have absolutely no say in what should be contained in the bride price or not even if they want to make suggestion on reduction. It is men like you that still balance, collect, chop and clean mouth so getat with your baseless rant.
This example above is that of an unmarried woman (whose bride price had not been paid) but in your usual fashion of castigating women, you had to find a way to drag bride price in.
Na you go taya las Las, no one put a knife to your throat to marry, stay single for life.

If she doesn't get married at 30, that her so beloved family members will be the ones to mock her. She needs to test the family member by stop giving them money for 6 months and see if the love is still there.

      Men do to
If you like don’t marry early and produce early, keep wasting your healthy sperm and think you are doing any women favors… your Sperm weakens with age too.

Anon 16:05, she's not wicked but realistic, ladies are tired of men making it seem all the time as if marriage is a thing that only women desire or benefit from, both parties benefit from marriage na, even in weddings, they'll announce women that need husband, they'll never announce men that need wife. We need to change that narrative abeg

Yes, all those things you guys drink, is affecting men's sperms. Nor be only women de deal with infertility. A high number of men, are the cause of their wife's inability to conceive. Go ask at the fertility clinics.
You are yabbing her because she choose to cut ties with a man, who wants to spend her money and will not let her give her parents nada. Her own money o. The girl did good. That guy was not for her. Her soulmate will come along.

One day I needed to send my mum some money and I was just discussing with him and I said it in passing . One this guy changed it for me saying is my mum not receiving pension, can't she live on it and live within her means.
It's like that was what God used to open my eyes.
My mum suffered to train I and my siblings after our dad sent us packing , trained me to become a Dr and every one of us are graduates meanwhile this guy 50k from me monthly. . That was the deal Breward bcos I said to myself If I marry this man My mum will suffer. That's how I left him . Till today he does not know that was the reason .
Now my mum receives 75k from me monthly and my dad 40k and my hubby has never objected to it. In total we do 300k total to both of parents and siblings and we are happy.
