INSIDE THE MIND OF A MAN GOING THROUGH FATHERHOOD

While growing up, my dad was in charge of ironing our school uniforms. He would iron them and they would look very crispy and nice. I even won the prize for the neatest pupil in class several times as a result of this. When they call me out for my prize, I would walk out with my shoulders high like that of two fighting cocks and collect it with smiles.

Today, I would reminisce about it and smile, I will never forget this particular role that my dad played in our lives. Even though he later messed up and they separated, even though he later stopped paying our fees and other bills as a result of their marriage break-up, I still love and appreciate him for creating those beautiful memories in my life, sometimes with tears in my eyes *wipes tears*

As a father, I thought of what to do in the life of my kids that would make them remember me with fondness tomorrow, those beautiful memories that would make them smile in future.

Wifey is already in charge of washing and ironing their clothes, I can't iron to save my life, reason why I have a good laundry man that does a good job.
She cooks their food, does school runs, what else should I do asides the normal payment of bills and birthday gifts?

An idea struck me one day, I started reserving new crispy notes for them. Every school day, I would give them one new note each to school, it could be #50, #100, #200 depending on my pocket and their classes. Only two of them are old enough to be given money, the last one is still small.

This gesture of mine has served the purpose I wanted so far. It has created that bond that I wanted. They feel so elated each time I hand them the new notes and come back with exciting stories about what transpired in their school.

The eldest one once told me that the school's store keeper usually reserves new notes to use as change for her anytime she buys something, she said the woman asked her where she gets them from and she told her. The woman now proceeds to return the gesture anytime she buys anything. This made her the envy of her classmates. LMAO.

So my people, make sure you create special memory with your children?

Why not spend time with them creating special memories instead of giving them money? I dont think that money giving is a good idea.....

*GROW ABOVE OFFENCES.*

*Maintain relationships with people*.

*It is childish and immature to pick offence at every provocation or perceived wrong and then start keeping grudges as a result.*
*Grow above it.*
*Someone did not invite you for their celebration(s), you pick offence with them*.
*Someone did not wish you happy birthday, you pick offence with the person*.
*They did not like your facebook post, you pick offence.*
*They did not support you in a disagreement you had with someone, you pick offence with them.*

*They are junior and they have the audacity to talk or oppose your opinion. You pick offence with them*.

*They said NO to your request, you pick offence and malice starts.*
*You asked them for money, they said they did not have, you pick offence.*
*You are even keeping a record of people who came around when you were bereaved so you can know who to pick offence with*.

*See!!!*

*Everyone has battles you are not aware of*.
*Those who you need help from are also looking for help*.
*Not everything is personal and intentional*.
*Not everyone hates you and never hate anyone.*

*Sometimes, people are just caught up with their own lives, struggles, human weaknesses and limitations.*

*Learn how to manage being disappointed by people and still be on talking terms with them. It will save you a lot of UNNECESSARY grudges and save you some friendships you may need in future.*

*Grow above all unwanted attitudes and behaviors in 2023 and beyond.*

  2. The average Igbo man is Financially astute and Business savvy!
You might laugh at him for riding his okada to the market everyday, or even mock him for being uneducated. Heck, you might even accuse him of being stingy. But the man realises that it is FAR BETTER for him to ride his okada, save money, build a house in the village/city, and even build for rent, then he can relax and buy whatever luxury he wants!
That kind of wisdom/financial prudence is not taught in schools. πŸ’―

    3. I was expecting to read that they put the money in their piggy bank. I also don't think it's a good idea to give them money and have them spend it the same day. Tiny drops of water make an ocean and it's best to teach them about savings and making money grow through buying things like chocolate with the money and selling them to their friends etc. All the best.

    2. Eka, please calm down with the igbo men slander. Every time there's a comment slandering igbo men, you are always there to support it.
'Is it that other tribes are good?

      I think its wrong.

      Every tribe has their issues.
Yoruba men can be lazy and lousy...very lousy.
Northern men nko? They hardly have regard for women.
Asaba men and delta men are lazy.
      Rivers men nko?
So lets all be clear that before you marry ANY MAN, you scrutinise him in the place of the spirit especially.

That being said, I would never advise anyone I know to marry an Igbo man that grew up in the east and is unteachable. They attach their significance to money and can treat their wives as an acquired property.

I tell my husband that he doesn't act like someone that grew up in the east and for that I am grateful. He understands partnership and unity. Hardly a marital goal in most igbo marriages.

Sha I have made my point.
      Peace

    How is your day going?
I just left school after the class decorations, special prayers and teachers/management meeting.
In my house now, to rest till 5:pm when I will take my wares to my joint for sale.
This bonga fish and mangala fish that are reigning now, that was how I went and bought them for resale after two people asked, I don't know who sent me message.
My area people did not buy them, they said they were too expensive🀣

At the end of the day, I had to use them for new year celebration instead of selling them at ridiculous prices. Very sweet πŸ˜‹
