Couch Convo - Renouncing Nigeran Citizenship...

I read in the Dailies about some Nigerians renouncing their Citizenship and i am shocked...

I know about Nigerians in the Diaspora claiming to be stateless (and chopping ADURO) but i have not heard of anyone openly renouncing their citizenship..

Will they return to Nigeria as foreigners? LOL
Would you give up being a Nigerian for any reason at all?

  6. Maybe political reasons? Or they want to acquire a 3rd citizenship, in that case they have to drop one, so I read.
If its for some other vain reason, then it's silly.

  10. Me, I'll never give up my Nigerian nationality. EU citizen is good but the day I win the lottery in this Europe, I'm going to naija to spend it all. I love Nigerian food, Nigerian music, Nigerian humour, Nigerian clothes etc. I hate the politicians but I'm proudly Nigerian. Abeg! abeg!

  11. All naturalized American citizens have technically renounced Nigerian citizenship or citizenship of any other country. It’s part of the path. People don’t just officially ask to have their Nigerian passport cancelled

    1. You lie!
Both countries have dual citizenship, you don't have to renounce your 1st country to take up the 2nd. This is why most have both passports especially when they travel back home for ease of passage.
Now, for anyone who has served in the military of any other country, the US citizenship na another case.

  12. Thank God Portugal recognises dual citizenship because I honestly wouldn't have thought twice before dumping this very annoying green passport for their very strong red passport and I won't even feel bad about it

I'm being offered their form of the Golden visa pathway, I'm hesitant though. Your perspective and experiences living there is appreciated.

  14. Thank goodness that UK recognises dual citizenship, I for not get mind to renounce Nigeria.
I know that it kinda looks so bleak and dark due to the wickedness of the political class, but, sincerely I am proudly a Nigerian and nwa afọ Igbo to the core.
Nigeria is such a beautiful Country just that we are cursed with the worseless of the worse Politicians.
It is such a shame and most times heartbreaking.

But, I always look forward to visiting Nigeria and I know that Nigeria would be great some day soon.

  16. I know Nigeria will be better, and I and my household will partake in the good of the land, I renounce not

  17. I have Nigerian, British and American passports. If I am ever forced to renounce it will be Nigerian, no because I hate my country but because our passport currently has very little value. And I am Nigerian by birth, I have a Nigerian name, accent etc. A passport does not change that fact.

    1. You're either lying or intentionally or unintentionally breaking the law in ALL 3 countries as they all only permit DUAL citizenship and not triple.
Better correct this as your citizenship in Britan and the US can be revoked because of this.
