  1. I'm frustrated in UK I've been here for about 7 months now and being someone who have done business all their life moving here has been an entirely new world for me.

I've finished at least two courses since I got here in order to get a Job, that hasn't seem to happen yet except for the menial and labour work.

I think I'm almost at the point of giving up.

    2. Omg!
Being business savvy in Nigeria can never be the same in the UK.
I pray that something miraculous happens for you before the year ends cos i get how frustrating it can get.

    3. Hang in there.

Keep applying, it's challenging to get a professional job in the UK but don't give up. If you have a science or medical background, have you tried looking on the NHS jobs website? If you are more academically inclined, jobs ac uk (put a period between the 3 words and search) might be helpful.

Total jobs, Reed co uk, Indeed, good moves, are other helpful websites.

You could also visit your alma mater and request to speak to a careers coach who can offer you advice. Visit your local library, they usually have a jobs resource centre and they might be able to offer advice and help with applications and interviews.

Also visit your city Council website and search for vacancies. You may also type the job you want and see what vacancies are available.

LinkedIn jobs could be useful too.

Be hopeful. It is well with you.

    5. Pelé , i Heard and have read up a lot about UK and work. Most of the reviews are more like complaints about getting a reasonable job while being saddled with high cost of living. I pray something better comes through for you.

If you are a Christian, please join a church that has Nigerians from there you can make new friends and find your way around. The Lord will give you a better job soon.

    13. Poster i feel you, keep pushing, keep striving, get active on LinkedIn, enter DMs of recruiting managers and sell yourself.
If you can afford to, offer to volunteer in some of the companies you want (even 3 months experience will help).
You will testify soon sis/bro, just don't give up.

    14. Oh dear, so sorry, don't give up.

What sort of jobs are you looking at? Keep applying, the more interviews you do, the more you are likely to smash one.

You can also look at volunteering in that field 2 times a week, they will take care of your lunch and transport. If you are diligent and hardworking, they will consider you first if there are any in house jobs.

There are also some training institutes that provide work experience, training and support you in getting a job @ a fee. They train you, help build your cv, coach you for interviews, provide work placement etc.

Finally, while you pursue all these, get a basic job eg admin, receptionist, even if it is part time job so you won't be financially frustrated.

All the best and keep your head up.

  6. Which is better?

Getting upset and yelling it out there and then. Like "why did you do that... Your were not suppose to, I told you to do otherwise" The stress getting to you but immediately after yelling, some minutes after you're fine like it never happened cos the hurt wasn't that deep or keeping whatever hurt inside and just dismissing the person that caused it and it lingers cos you never expressed your dislike.

Yelled at my office assistant today cos she just wasn't smart enough for something I've guided her on over and over again. But we ended the day good or so I think.
    What a day I had.

    2. Don't forget that people learn at different paces and some people may have difficulties (diagnosed and undiagnosed) , such as ADHD, Dyslexia, etc, which may make them not grasp new things as quickly as you may like.

Don't just assume you ended the day good, call her and speak gently to her, apologise. You're a grown adult yelling at another grown adult, no matter her job Station, that can be quite traumatic for some people.

Also try not take out your stress and anger on others who do not deserve it. That's not fair.

      Well done.

  7. Some daughter in laws be running away from going to a family house to stay the one my brother married is forcing her way to fully live in our family house and my mom loves her space too much. I pray she doesn't get tired of the girl. When my brother relocated to the East, she was happy for him, stress of one more person in family house removed cos she literally takes care of everything feeding and maintenance . Lol. They married, the wife joined him there, stayed 2 - 3months and came back to family house since October saying my Bro permitted her, leaving him alone in the east since her family stays here too. Not like they fought or anything. They're in good terms. That she will go back next year after the holidays. My mom that loves her space and has short fuse and its one kitchen and she loves doing things herself. Hmmm. May it be well with them

  11. Work people are having a Christmas get-together this Friday, ordering in food and going bowling. I don't care for my colleagues and absolutely do not want to relate with them outside of work. The ones who gossip, bully, and are condescending are all going, and I would rather use that money to order in food and eat in my house or go out with a good friend, than spend that money to be among people who I dislike.

I was thinking if calling in sick that day but they're already asking for contributions so I'm just going to take the day off and say I have an appointment which cannot be cancelled. Some coworkers are just fake and nasty but pretend to be good before the managers. I jump and pass Abeg, and may God bless me with a new job, in Jesus name.

  17. 90% of Nigerian sellers are dubious. Corruption has eaten so deep into our country that it will take God to come out of it. Most people's daily job is to plan on how to cheat a customer.
Imagine buying a kilo of meat and the meat seller will adjust the kilo forward which reduces the quality of the meat and still collect the original kilo price.
You go to the rice or garri seller, they will beat their mudu or cups deep inside that the quantity you will get after buying is reduced yet she will sell it at the normal cup or mudu price.
I paid a dropshipper money since April last year for a beautiful canvass she displayed. It's a year+. I have not seen my money nor the canvas. One story to another.
