DeleteIf I took him out on a date, then I've no reason whatsoever to forget my wallet. I'd make transfer to them. If he initiated the outing, then he has to pay. I've no problem sharing the bill with him, but in such case, I'd politely tell him that I forgot my wallet at home. I probably would refund him later.

I would honestly tell him I forgot my wallet, if they accept transfers, I will transfer my share, if not, I will plead with him to pay it and that I will refund him. I will refund him later if he accepts.
