Lady Who Jumped Into Lagos Lagoon Identified As DSS Worker Who Recently Got Engaged To Her Boyfriend...

The woman who jumped into the Lagos Lagoon on Thursday November 10, 2022 has been identified as Adetutu Adedokun, a member of staff of the country’s secret police known as the Department of State Services (DSS).

Channels Television reported on Friday November 11, 2022 that Adedokun was  an unarmed combat instructor, who recently got engaged to her boyfriend.

The driver of the taxi which she alighted from claimed she was having an argument with her fiancé before alighting from the car and jumping straight into the lagoon.

    1. This brings back memories of me some yrs ago. I was dating someone long distance rltshp who had proposed marriage, all of a sudden he started going quiet about it and being distant. Anyway found out he had done introduction with someone else in his base and wedding was in 3mths. Hahhh i almost died dat period cld hardly sleep nor eat, it was tears daily. One day driving on 3rd mainland i was crying as usual, looking at the water. Something was telling my enemy to just end it and drive into the water. But when i thot of my family, i cant even do it but i was close. Men please stop toying with peoples hearts and lives, not everyone is strong. Sm are already depresed and tired of life, then you break them even more. It took me years to heal from that rltshp.

  6. Its either you are praying or someone is praying for you. The sacrifices on third mainland bridge is enough to call up demons in other African countries, the other day people were naked a procession of very naked people make and female different ages on the bridge at midnight, that dame night more than 5 groups at different spots on the bridge. The water will call people,no jokes.
If you hold God,hold am tight. Its not ordinary eye to alight from bolt and fiam inside water...

    2. Abeg leave innocent 3MB water out of this girl's foolishness jare. Na today? When NGO work takes people to Makoko, na that water dem dey follow go and water, juju or sacrifice no dey call them anything😏. They go in peace and return in high spirits. Name that market, river or sea in Nigeria where dem no dey do rituals or carry sacrifice everytime.

Some Nigerians just like anything trendy and trending. As "jumping into 3rd mainland bridge water" don dey trend since 2020, na there dem dey like go die now. You look good, educated, gainfully employed etc. but just one phone call from a man, fiam! You jump enter water. Wetin make displaced people because of flooding for East and Middle belt do now? People who lost everything in a blink of an eye this year o. Dem still get hope but na death dey hungry this one.

Anyone who "jilts" you (if that's what happened) wants you to be sad, miserable or maybe even to die; so, you must rise above it to disappoint them and let them know they are not OXYGEN! That is how you win! Abi the man is LeBron James with a touch of Elon Musk's money ni? Even so, dem sef dey chop breakfast and serve people too. Na mumu dey kpai on top ring, preek or obloblo matter o.

    3. My wedding was scheduled for December after Christmas. On the 6th of December, the guy called me out of the blues to say he can't come for wedding again. Invitation was printed and sent out, asoebi already distributed. I was driving from church where I went to wash toilet o.
I just parked by the road side confused. Who do I call, what do I tell people? My dad had to witness his youngest daughter's heart break again.
After the third one, something told me to take my mind of marriage. First one hit me so hard, teenage love, the shock, the acceptance stage was hell for me. Apart from the shame and embarrassment, I didn't even think to end my life. I could only withdraw from people. Now if a man comes with marriage talk, I borrow wing join my own.

    1. That's not an excuse for one to take their own life. She could easily have walked away from the toxicity. She was engaged and not married, so why not easily walk away without looking back. Married people are walking away from toxicity easily these days.

    2. The man is NOT to blame biko! How many times have we preached "leave to live" and "broken engagement is better than broken marriage" in this space? If she was in a toxic relationship, then the man actually did her a favour by calling it off if that's what happened.

Maybe it's the other way around sef. The man fit don notice her destructive and toxic nature come decide to run for him life. Some of these girls/ladies pressure thse men to engage them publicly to pepper their imaginary online haters and frenemies or sometimes just to trend. No be the men dey initiate all the public drama whether sweet or sour o. Let's cut him some slack until he speaks (if ever he decides to). More people who read these kind of news need to know that sui.cide is never "cool" no matter what and that people who choose that path must be condemned not pitied; else, more id.iots will jump on the evil bandwagon.

  23. No pity on this lane😏. I still don't understand why you'd want to commit sui.cide and not take overdose jeje on top of your 6by6 or sl.it wrist easily inside bathroom. Instead, una must go or alight @3MB everytime to dramatise your death for mammy-water, dey pollute water for fishermen anyhow. Man wey go still engage another babe on boxing day na im you because of am jump enter water kwo? Wasted death if ever there was one.

Zero emotional strength these days. Student get carry-over or extra year? Sui.cide. Your boyfriend or girlfriend jilts you? Sui.cide. Your mother grounds you from going to meet your yeye boyfriend? Sui.cide. You get a quit notice? Sui.cide. Your twin sister is getting more toasters? Mur.der or Sui.cide. O gini di?😡.

Stellz, I know my comment is not nice but please epp me and post it laikdat. Civil service jobs involve spiritual attacks from envious colleagues and haters. It is well. Suicide is not an option its a SIN. Talk to someone today about how depressed you are it helps

She may have lost her life work for this man and her monies too only for him to fly out or end the relationship. We can't tell. We all need to be kind, I hate what I did in the past but I wish I could revert I can't God help is al

No lifeguard or life jacket nothing. They should investigate their business

  30. People don't understand that mental health issues are real. What you can take, another person cannot take it. That is why we need to go easy on people. A lot of people cannot handle heartbreak. A lot of people cannot handle divorce. A lot of people cannot handle cheating. A lot of people cannot handle grief. We need to stop judging people based on what we can handle rather let's be a support system to them.

Maybe he called off the wedding and she is already pregnant, maybe he didn't. Maybe she discovered something about her health. It could be a lot of "maybes". No one wakes up and decide to take their lives , no one.

That being said, if you are feeling suicidal , please reach out for help. Talk to someone. Go for therapy. Cry it out. Scream it out. Don't end it. Dont give up. This too shall pass.

May God have mercy on your soul and gently rest in peace.

Kill myself because of a man? Hahaha God knows i cant. This has remained my philosophy, when women see having a man as their crown as a success, that's where the problem starts. Being alive and having a jo is a huge success fir any woman. Lets stop this useless dying on top of men. Ha die ke. Shey me dat i already have my own house, building another, lol, spending my own cash, its me dat will now die for one man. GOD FORBID. Abeg wise up women. YOU ARE TOO IMPORTANT. TOO TOO IMPORTANT pls.

  35. The obvious is often not the TRUTH. Nigeria needs institutions including a solid investigative system that has forensic science detective capabilities to solve crimes. Things are not often what they seem. Staged suicides, staged drownings, poisonings over years are now being disguised as suicides it seems. People are watching global TV, learning the dangerous ways to get away with murder but the looting of funds meant to develop the institutions so they keep pace with modern crime solving techniques leaves only a simplistic approach to incidents like this. I hope I’m wrong but I believe David’s son was murdered either by a frenemy, politicians or jealous friends/foes/colleagues and disguised as accidental drowning. Who opened the heavy (maybe bullet-proof) back door to the yard? Who placed a call to distract the staff, the other 6 staff were not in the same yard? Was it not well lit that even if a dog fell in the pool they should see it? How come nobody saw the kid among the 8 staff who couldn’t have all been asleep including the security man who ought to notice any movements on the property? Did they ever check the movement of money into the accounts of his staff & associates, relatives of staff etc to see if any unusual payments were made that could indicate a murder for hire? All their associates & colleagues, rivals and exs will be looked into (discretely) by detectives to rule out motives & opportunity, not just tell us what we know that he drowned in a developed society with forensic technology where even bullet trajectory is measured after an obvious mass shooting.

As to the lady who committed suicide, the work environment in Nigeria is such that anyone with a good job should watch their back & be careful. Even as at decades ago some folks fell sick after sitting on chairs as frenemies put “stuff” on chairs, bewitched those occupying positions they covet & order hits to get to those positions.

Many bvs may be too young to recall when Reuben Abati wrote an interesting article based on a real life event at the Redemption Camp. The pastor said “ there is ‘A’ woman at the gathering who killed her husband’s wife & children so she & her kids will be the only ones in the man’s life”. Reuben Abati wrote for the Guardian newspapers then, anyone can confirm this. I also met folks who were at the same service. Abati said “ not ONE woman came out, MANY did”. Corporately dressed ladies came out after Pastor Adeboye said they will die that year if they didn’t come out! Homicide perpetrators disguised as wives ran to the altar! I personally wished it was in a western country as murder has no statute of limitation so they could be arrested. Abati confessed he didn’t close his eyes & was looking to see the number of murderers in corporate clothing willing to murder other women & children for their husbands & dads!

This lady may have been bewitched for her position at work or by a competitor for her man’s affection. Of course suicidal ideation can be a component of some mental illness as I know from my professional training but Naija is very complicated. May judgement visit evildoers and May God comfort those who truly care for her. If you are feeling suicidal, call the hotline in another country as I know Nigeria may not have a suicide hotline. Lets look at things deeper as a society in a world where windshield wiper fluid tastes sweet and has been used as poison in hot chocolate or tea/coffee in developed countries. If it were Nigeria they will say he/she drank tea and died. We forget that the knowledge of good & evil is now so widespread that we need forensic science to deter crime.

See an experienced psychiatrist if you have a mental illness and if it’s due to substance use disorder, they can get you into a treatment program. It’s just that things aren’t what they seem in Nigeria but we are too simple-minded. We need to dig deeper than the obvious.
