Food Prices In Nigeria Reportedly At Its Peak...

Foodstuff in Nigeria is so expensive now that you would wonder how things will look like in the near future since what goes up in Naija never comes down.....

Can we compare prices of foodstuff from 3 months ago to now? I hear the flood has also contributed to the price increase.....

Which is the cheapest foodstuff now? Where can one buy stuff that is affordable? Are there special markets where people buy stuff and share? Are you a food shopper? Please guide us oh!

  2. Stella, we're surviving in Nigeria through the special grace of God. I bought Nutri bom for my 1 year & 4 months old baby for #1,100 last week, only to go back yesterday to buy at the rate of #1,200. Meanwhile, I bought the same Nutri bom for #850 early last month. In fact, na only God go help us pull through in this country.

  3. No food is cheap not even garri

All I know is you cant take 20k to the market and get all you need. I don't do list anymore. Buy the need and scrap the wants.

My favourite bread is now #1,000

    It is well.

    2. Surprisingly last week sat, took 100k to the market and bought a lot,and still had change. For dose that want to buy perishable goods like tomatoes and pepper, and on sat evening to market, dose o es that don't open on Sundays. Many people want to sell so as not to have bad goods on Monday, and it's actually quite affordable.

  8. I have already replaced yam with unripe plantain , thank God my children love it. I go to Rumuokoro early morning market to get things a little bit cheaper from women that brought directly from village . I paid for thrift and we bought rice and other items since October before the prices skyrocketed

  9. The way food prices are rising now is scary. The cheapest food item now is salt.🙄
I deal with and process foodstuffs, and sometimes when I go to the market, I end up buying only a fraction of what I intended to buy because prices had changed from what you bought the previous week.

    1. Not only in Nigria o,, even here in Ghana!! Last 2 weeks I bought a small size U2 salt for ghc 1, currently same salt is at Ghc 2.50, only customers sell it ghc2 because of patronage! Ordering Naija foodstuffs now is a no go area for the faint hearted.

  24. Even in the abroad oh. This year's hyper inflation in the US has been through the roof. Food prices are still ok, but rent, gas/fuel and unemployment rates are high. Car prices and home prices super high, so many job cuts especially in tech industry.

Quite scary but I find solace in the word of God.. do not worry about your life, what you shall eat or drink or about your body what you shall wear...
